Muschelkalk Pinot Noir 2017

Absurdly good. See previous descriptions and ratings. Essentially Pinot does not get better than this. 12.5%. And this from a very bad vintage. — 5 days ago

Hans-Bert Espe Und Silke Wolf Baden Spätburgunder 2020

good example of what a German, Baden area, Pinot Noir can be. Spatburgunder in German labeling
Light, delicate, aromatic, somewhat more sour cherry and rhubarb than you might expect but still a win.

After an awkward start, a good wine. Like a burg a bit. Maybe a little less rich on the palate. — a month ago

Boah, what an insane wine! Called it a 1er cru Chablis in our blind, while RP called it a lieu-dit Meursault. Can’t remember what vintage I called, but definitely younger than 2015. You get the gist. So pure, saline, and powerful. — 3 months ago

Gestad Syrah

GE for Gestad.
Oh wow - they really nailed it in ‘21.
This has to be the most Burgundian Syrah I have ever tasted.
Upon opening this is _so_ Côte Chalonnaise Pinot - dark spicy cherry with a bit of structure & beef. With time more blueberry comes to the forefront together with some leather, a touch of rosemary, a whiff of freshly cracked black pepper. It remains hung somewhere between a Pinot and Côte Rotie. Very, very fresh & enticing.
Very fresh and Pinot-like on the palate as well. Juicy acidity, polished tannins. More Baden Pinot than Burgundy… but very precise, light, aetheric.
Blind I would have never said this is a Syrah!
Such a pleasure already now. And amazing value for money!

Baden Pinot Noir 2017

Certainly good for the price, but not sure I should have let it go 7 years. Quite light on its feet, but the finish falls away too quickly and there isn’t quite enough acid to keep it together. Still enjoyable and has a pleasing bitter note. — 19 days ago

Rhini Blauer Spätburgunder 2014

Such a masterful wine at almost 11 years of age. Nose is luscious and deep. Mint and red fruits and dramatic exotic spices. Terrific minerality. Limestone galore. Layered and perfumed. Knockout. Some charcoal as well. Palate is so juicy and energetic giving luscious red cherries that burst with intensity on the explosive finish. Then it cuts a swath of mineral and slowly dissipates. The work of a genius. The sweetness of the fruit and depth of minerality are so intertwined here. Unreal purity. Truly the most amazing Rhini I have ever had. — a month ago

Liaison Pinot Noir 2017

A little bit of a port wine nose. Brown tinge. Seems to me as one of the more difficult vintages E&M had to care for. Round, mature, herbaceous, lime, quite earthy and acidic. I would start drinking this 2017. — 2 months ago
