Beautifully smooth, structured & fruit forward. Opened in January 2023. Perfect to drink right now. Bought these awhile ago at the winery. Great experience. Even better wine today. Enjoyed with Rafael a chilly on Saturday night. — 2 years ago
1 hour decant (fine/cloudy sediment). A wondrous dark purplish garnet color. On the nose: dark fruit, pine, minty vanilla, coffee. Taste: smooth, velvety, balanced, structured medium plus body wine with black fruit, chocolate, cedar, pepper, oak, and a minerally cherry medium plus finish. Another winner in what was suppose to be an iffy vintage for Napa. Making for a great Saturday night! — 3 years ago
In the day these guys were Epic! I traded for this wine (Covid inspired) and on a particularly cold, blustery Chicago Saturday... we did big-ass burgers and left over Greek potatoes and green beans. Match made in Heaven! Haven’t seen a plastic cork in years... 16.1... Holy Shit! No sign of alcohol on the palate... did you get that? 16.1... no alcohol on the palate? Dark, rich, cloudy, chewy—classic black fruit, pencil lead, saddle-leather notes. Still alive and balanced. What a fun wine with food on a cold winter night. — 4 years ago
What a special treat!!! So enthralled by the moment that I forgot to take a photo with the dessert last night. 😜 This wine was stunning! Layered, complex, balanced. Pronounced and concentrated notes of dried apricot, peach preserves, marmalade, orange zest, Meyer lemon peel, citrus blossom, gardenia, cinnamon, cardamom, saffron, lavender honey, and beeswax. It coated the palate with a lasting finish. Again, such an absolute treat!! — 9 months ago
Color - blend of crimson and magenta giving it a rich color with bricking. The nose has beautiful scents of plum, aged perfume, sweet tobacco with secondary notes of worn leather crushed rock, a subtle funky earthiness and herbaceous aroma. Taste - soft and smooth covering the palate with red plum,, cedar, smoked meat and subtle sweetness of cassis new cigar and some spice. Definitely will enjoy this rainy Saturday night. — 2 years ago
1 hour decant (just cloudy/fine sediment). A staggering dark burnt red color with some bricking. On the nose: dark cherry, smoked meat, mint, crushed gravel, and a touch of cream brulee. Taste: YUM! A soft creamy medium plus body wine with cherries!, minerals, leather, tobacco, and a spicy smokey cherry long finish with some sweetened dusty tannins. Such a classic to enjoy this Saturday night! — 4 years ago
Popped and poured; no formal notes. Just old enough to drink itself, this Special Club from Goutorbe is vinous and firing on all cylinders right now. There is such a compelling mix of primary and secondary characteristics with structure and fruit in perfect balance. A lovely opening glass of bubbles for what was certain to be a memorable night. Drink now through 2032. — a year ago
1.5 hour decant (decent chunky/fine sediment). An elegant dark garnet with bricking. On the nose: beautiful notes of cherry, floral, ripe plum, sweet tobacco, funky earth, touch of menthol, cedar. Taste: smooth, silky, well structured coats my mouth wine with dark plum, chocolate espresso, loamy earth, cedar, and a spiced caramel long finish. YUM! Aged Seavey cab makes for a wonderful Saturday night. — 2 years ago
It was a special night. 26 year old wine, that incredibly felt like it was just bottled. Tannins still present. Rich black fruit, with graphite and pencil shavings. As special as it was to enjoy this bottle with friends, it’s hard to reconcile the value of the wine. We had a Cos De Estournel with this and it showed just as well at a fraction of the cost. — 3 years ago
