This is prime. Some red stone fruits in here, like plum, along with dark cherries, are really dominant. There is a good spice level, nice vanilla, and a freshness that I wasn’t expecting. Great medium body with medium tannic structure. Could keep aging for another half decade at least. — 9 months ago
Good but not sure we’d get again. Lighter in color. Dryer. Not really special but highly tjs cost. — 2 years ago
First bottle of a half case we bought at the domaine in 2021. Definitely will be better in a few years but nice to try one on the earlier side. What they say is true - this is really easily Brunello level. At this point the nose isn’t giving a ton, but there is great depth of fruit and earth on the palate. This hits in several more parts of the mouth than most wines and the finish goes on for quite a while. Medium plus tannins and acid which should balance out a bit with some more age.
Opened the bottle 5 hours prior to service and then decanted for 2. Real candidate to be 9.5+ in a few years. — 4 months ago
continuing in the vein of unusual Italian wines, we thoroughly enjoyed this 10 yr old Teroldego from Tuscany of all places: pouring a deep rich ruby, partially opaque with copious quantities of red fruit on the nose, some dark berried fruit as well, licorice, dirt & soil, peppery goodness some dried herbs and so on. complex and engaging, med bodied on palate, more fruit & spice, fleshy mild tannins and smooth finish - other than color, not showing its age. — 8 months ago
Sleeper hit #toscanaigt - typical #sangiovese dark fruit + spicy forest floor character all wrapped up in a high-QPR package. #traderjoes — 9 months ago
My first Timorasso. At first a bit dainty & shy on the nose; crushed nectar pits, white flowers, some white peach & artichoke hearts. On palate very textured, like Huet Chenin, but in a parallel universe. Minerally & reserved, this feels like it could go decades more- which is my understanding it can. The aroma notes are echoed on palate, with additional quince & pale fig notes, with a very slight off dry character (overall quite dry). For about 26$ a steal— I guess it’s a hard sell, this Timarosso.. This can either run as a food wine or not, & it’s delicious. — 2 years ago
