Wow. Just wow

It starts off kinda like a deep and dark Rhône wine with a sweetness and kirsch like flavor but then in the palate it just explodes about 4-5 second later and there is a whole different level of expression.

Deep dark brooding wine. Packs some heat but remains balanced and long. Dark fruit, high alcohol but it works in the structure. I loved this wine and will seek out more as this was a one off bottle. — a month ago

A pale lemon yellow in colour - quite youthful looking for a 12 year old Chardonnay. Aromatics of white peach - mealy and nutty notes, still with a nice acid cut at the finish. Drinking at its peak. Fuller than some Marg River Chardonnays I’ve had lately like Xanadu and Fraser Gallop. I have had richer Art Series Chardonnays but personally I love the balance in this. — 17 days ago

Penfolds reds like this age at glacial pace even from a not so great vintage like 2007. Not much change after 5 years. Red and black fruits- choc/mocha - good concentration - tannins starting to soften after 18 years. Could keep cellaring up to 2030 and beyond. — 7 days ago

Barrel-fermented, pale lemon color, aromas of stone and tropical fruit with citrus, honeysuckle and flinty notes. On the palate flavors of peach, ripe apple, melon and lemon citrus, crisp with herb floral spice. Well balanced, lively acidity, long finish ending with fruit and wet stone character. Dense dark crimson - almost black in colour. Red and black fruits, choc/mocha; and wild mint. An inner core of strength, concentration and intensity. The following night - Blackberry, rich, ripe fruits. A powerful 389 which will live for decades. My first of 11. Rich and mouth filling in the luscious Felton Road style. Only 20% whole bunch letting the quality of the ripe fruit speak. Intense red and black fruits - raspberry to the fore. This is just a “village “ wine in comparison to their illustrious Block 3 and Block 5 but it more than holds its own. Impossible not to enjoy this wine. — 20 days ago
