Even in an average vintage like 2007 the Bin 28 can still be showing well at 19 years of age. Blackberry and Penfolds Choc mocha. Some herb garden and liquorice. Will not improve but could carry on for a couple more years.

Aug 5th, 2026Penfolds reds like this age at glacial pace even from a not so great vintage like 2007. Not much change after 5 years. Red and black fruits- choc/mocha - good concentration - tannins starting to soften after 18 years. Could keep cellaring up to 2030 and beyond.

May 15th, 2025Plummy, freshly tilled earth aromas. From a lesser year but still plenty of power and tannin. Typical Bin 28 with ripe black currant fruit and liquorice notes. A good wine if not a little square sided.

Solid wine. Refined and understated. Difficult year but this is coming into its own now with still about 5-10 left in it surprisingly. No hint of brown aroind the edges, solid red although not as dark as some years. Palette tight upon opening bit opened after some time in the glass. Fruit still strong and well integrated with the oak.
