Another one from last night’s birthday dinner. I had a little left to revisit on day 2 and it is still amazing. What a classic. I could sit with this for a long time. The smokey, deep dark fruit/licorice, and velvety mouthfeel, all make this wine shine. This one will definitely improve with more age. Easily one of the top 5 wines of the year for me. — 2 years ago
Absolutely classic Paulliac - deep smokey , cedar , leathery tobacco nose. Deep dark fruit and cassis flavor and endless finish. Awesome. — 3 years ago
I am not much of a bourbon drinker, but this wine is amazing. Nice oak and smokey taste. This will definitely be bought again. — 4 years ago
Yummy. Dark, Smokey but balanced with plum, currant and cherry notes. — 9 months ago
I have been a huge fan of this domaine since they produced their first bottles in 1982. The wines are pure expressions of Pinot, delineated, mineral and salty. When young they can be very smokey/toasty but that bleeds out through aging. Unfortunately they are irresistible when young but the reward is even better with 7 to 10 years of bottle age. Tough to wait for that long. — 3 years ago
Dark crimson and garnet color. Very dark cherry fruit, bacon spices and a smokey vanilla hit the nose then lingers with a spearmint menthol scent and chocolate that is pleasant and inviting. Velvety feel fills the mouth with a cherry liqueur hitting the pallet; as the wine coats the tongue a raisin-prune and cedar taste comes out with hints of vanilla and coffee floating in and out. Medium to long finish and tannins pretty much resolved. 2017 Wine Spectator’s wine of the year! — 4 years ago
Always enjoy Arista. Pulled out this gem from the cellar. — 9 months ago
Color - dark purple garnet. A bold expressive funky perfume fruit nose so classic of Cayuse with mineral-meat, smokey and mint notes lingering with a vanilla toast scent. Juicy and elegant; rich with dark plum-cherry flavors intertwined with a smokey soil bacon bitters taste—the mineral-iron characteristics follow with a tobacco long finish. Looking forward to seeing how the flavors change with different foods and as the wine opens up. Bionic Frog is favorite and definitely a wine to try and store in your cellar.
