I have been a huge fan of this domaine since they produced their first bottles in 1982. The wines are pure expressions of Pinot, delineated, mineral and salty. When young they can be very smokey/toasty but that bleeds out through aging. Unfortunately they are irresistible when young but the reward is even better with 7 to 10 years of bottle age. Tough to wait for that long. — 5 years ago
I am not much of a bourbon drinker, but this wine is amazing. Nice oak and smokey taste. This will definitely be bought again. — 6 years ago
My mind was blown!! As close as your getting to get to first growth at an insane price! PnP and reminded me of Haut Brion. Dusty, earthy, and smokey with some tar. Velvet on the palate with an insanely long finish. I’m speechless and in somewhat disbelief!! — 7 years ago
Sweet and Smokey. Loved this. Perfect mix of ripe dark fruits and kick. Great length. Half bottle. Awesome! — 7 months ago
2017 Wine Spectator #1 wine of the year
45 min decant(some fine/cloudy sediment) A remarkable dark crimson color. On the nose: mellow notes of dark cherry/raspberry, graphite, smokey vanilla, floral. Taste: smooth, creamy wine with plum, bitter chocolate, cedar, black pepper, oak, and a vanilla tar medium plus dry finish. YUM! I like it. — 3 years ago

When I was looking on winesearcher there was a 3 liter bottle in Palm desert store, just happened my friends were out there on vacation so I asked them to grab it for me.Wonderful Smokey goodness without the bite. How do they do it?!? Must be magic. — 6 years ago
Smokey, with a hint of cherries, strawberry jam, and vanilla. A little less “earthy” and a little softer than other vintages I have had by this producer. — a year ago
Yummy. Dark, Smokey but balanced with plum, currant and cherry notes. — 3 years ago
Color - dark purple garnet. A bold expressive funky perfume fruit nose so classic of Cayuse with mineral-meat, smokey and mint notes lingering with a vanilla toast scent. Juicy and elegant; rich with dark plum-cherry flavors intertwined with a smokey soil bacon bitters taste—the mineral-iron characteristics follow with a tobacco long finish. Looking forward to seeing how the flavors change with different foods and as the wine opens up. Bionic Frog is favorite and definitely a wine to try and store in your cellar. Christophe Baron does it again! — 5 years ago

Horsepower Syrahs are the only ones I’ve had with more funk than Cayuse.

Double decant and pour(lots of fine sediment). A striking still dark purplish garnet color with bricking. On the nose: Alluring perfumed notes of red/blue fruit, smoked meat, tobacco, vanilla, eucalyptus, wet forest floor, cloves. Taste: silky, old school restraint, elegant wine with some red fruit, leather, earth, dried herbs, tobacco, and a medium spiced smokey wood finish. Did not wow, but still a pleasure to drink at 38 years. — 25 days ago
