Trapiche
Oak Cask Mendoza Malbec
Light purple in color with a wide reddish rim.
On the nose, black currants, plums, bell pepper, oak, licorice, cloves, earth, vegetables, graphite, spices, bitter herbs and black pepper.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.
Dry on the palate with cherries, currants, oak, vanilla, cloves, tobacco, dark coffee, bitter greens, graphite, spices, bell pepper, herbs and peppercorn.
Medium on the finish with soft tannins and bitter almonds.
This 4 year old Malbec is on its way out. Unbalanced with mild complexity and hot at the back of the throat. Too bitter at the ending for my taste. It was nicer as a 2 to 3 year old.
Needs an hour to open up properly. Aged for 9 months in Oak barrels.
14% alcohol by volume.
$10.

It is full of flavor, and all kinds of character. I love it from the initial smell of the bottle, nose from class, & through the finish.
