A tangy ripe nose. The fruit is very dense and OTT. Not great

The one and only Wine Spectator of the year 2017 #1 95 Pts wine. Extremely silky and smooth. Complex layers. Delicious.

Jack: If they want to drink Merlot, we're drinking Merlot.
Miles: No, if anyone orders Merlot, I'm leaving. I am NOT drinking any F%$&ING Merlot!
The Miles Raymond I know would order a second bottle of this and then call his ex-wife from the restaurant pay phone... it’s that good.

Big yet balanced and still nuanced. Would like with some age.

2014 Duckhorn Three Palms, wine of the year. This wine will help bring merlots back to the spotlight.while still young it still drank great. Earth tones, black plums , Expresso, great balance, with a long smooth finish. Hold if you can, this wine will drink beautifully for years.

Dark crimson and garnet color. Very dark cherry fruit, bacon spices and a smokey vanilla hit the nose then lingers with a spearmint menthol scent and chocolate that is pleasant and inviting. Velvety feel fills the mouth with a cherry liqueur hitting the pallet; as the wine coats the tongue a raisin-prune and cedar taste comes out with hints of vanilla and coffee floating in and out. Medium to long finish and tannins pretty much resolved. 2017 Wine Spectator’s wine of the year!

2017 WS wine of the year. Purchased 6 bottles on release at a decent price...forget the retail price now though!!

One hour decant(min sediment). A forbidding dark crimson color. Served on the cool side. On the nose: smokey vanilla, dark cherry, baking spice, and a slight spearment menthol at the end. Taste: Hello!..not shy....cherry liqueur, cedar, graphite. A medium body, soft tannins, with a prune/vanilla dry medium plus finish. Tried a year ago, and working better for me now with some age.
