Pierre Frick

Voyages Pur Vin Sans Sulfite Ajouté Alsace Riesling Blend 2022

Phew, vilken tur! Och vilken upprättelse!

Tinpot Hut

Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2018

Vibrant. Pear, green apple and violets. It tastes and smells like rich dew on an early Spring morning glistering in the sun. A new dawning! Like it will be for my brother Wim. Couldn’t be a better wine to celebrate him coming out of coma today after a terrible fall fracturing his skull. He responded well to testing the basic functions. Breathing on his own again. Yes a road to discovery has been created. A new dawning. Thank God for his healing touch, for hearing our prayers, for having Wim in his plan. Cheers!!! — 7 years ago

North Coast Syrah 2016

Interesting, light bodied Syrah. Initially old boot leather but as it begins to open I’m overwhelmed with cranberries. Front has spice and earth. Has a tangy/tartness on the back end. Love the skull on the front. — 7 years ago

Don't know how to describe the nose on this🤔 Bacon & Olive? Probably the oldest Syrah I've had,

I dig the Skull....prefer it over Royal City (which is stellar in its own right)

I saw a bottle of 06 Royal City close on auction yesterday for $285.00, @Bill Bender had no idea they could fetch that kind of cash nowadays

Skull Splitter Scotch Ale

Finca Bacara

Time Waits For No One Black Skull Monastrell 2016

Deep ruby in color; blackberries, black plums, and tabacco smoke on the nose; medium plus acidity; high tannins; tastes like blackberry sauce, black olives, black pepper and a hint of potting soil with a long finish. Nellie and I both like it and think it paired well with Cajun Fries from Five Guys. I think it would pair well with Texas barbecue. — 2 years ago

Brunate riserva selezionata. Can wine bring you to tears? This wine can. And knock your head straight back as the aroma shoots straight up your nose and through the top of your skull. Dear god. Wotn. — 8 years ago

Ambrosan Amarone della Valpolicella Classico 2003

Imagine aged plums and white cherries blowing a hole through the back of your skull like a 12 gauge. That only partially captures the experience of this amarone on the nose. Medium minus acidity and gentle tannins make this quaffable, yet still deserving of a considered reflection. High quality producer, corked. — 10 years ago

Gourds Gone Wild

Tampa Bay Brewing Co. ‘Gourds Gone Wild’
Amber expectation unravel to express whipped cream on pumpkin pie! Heavy on the cream! Flaky crust seems imminent. This motif swings full circle on the palate-pirouette to suggest the same with clove and nutmeg in tow. Beer aspect has turned treacle-sarsaparilla but genuine and tasty-toasted, so, let it go! Haters hate Christmas ales too and summer and seasonal but love their Willy wonky candy beers. Grow some. The style is good, screaming autumn from the hollow skull of Halloween. Don’t be scared!

Mont de Milieu Chablis 1er Cru Chardonnay 2013

Lucky to get some bottles direct from the source. Perfect condition. Absolutely stunning after 15 min of air. The age gave it more of a souther Burgundian texture but with all those oyster shell minerality you love about Chablis. Gave a pour to Jonah at GreekMans, and was watching his face react to a looooong 90 second finish that rocks your skull. Wow. — 4 years ago

Château La Lagune

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2006

Every Bordeaux cliche in the book: graphite, cedar box, soy, cèpes, wet earth, five spice, forest floor. At its peak, gone completely secondary in terms of aromas/flavors...yet vital, vigorous and quite obviously has another gear left. Properly 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, and not blemished with either drying doses of new oak or the skull-splitting level of alcohol that makes drinking most modern classified growths a grotesque test of endurance. — 7 years ago

Dark chocolate and pepper notes. Drier on the palate to most syrahs yet pleasant without sucking the moisture from your skull. Great value for money. — 10 years ago
