The Nobel Terroir Select Napa Valley Red Blend 2013

Dark plums, vanilla, oak, chocolate, and hints of eucalyptus in the nose. Explosive rush of dark fruits carried further by a 14.5% ALC from the first followed by a satisfying blend of oak and vanilla with a dollop of chocolates. The finish is long and smooth favoring oak, vanilla, and pepper and a silky smooth mouthfeel. — 2 months ago

Kirkland Signature

Cuvée du Terroir des Papes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Grenache Blend 2023

Had the 2023 in December of 2025. Paired with beef burgundy and was most enjoyable. Fruits-cherry and berry. Silky smooth tannins. Hint (?) of spice on the end. Plan to get a couple more bottles of this next time I go to Costco. Especially at the price point! — 5 months ago

Château Le Puy

Barthélemy Expression Originale de Terroir Côtes de Francs Red Bordeaux Blend 2017

Dark purple color, dense, bright. Nose: black fruits (blackcurrant, blueberries, dark plums) and red fruits with Merlot in front, bright herbal notes of uninterventionist wines. Discreet and well-integrated breeding notes (vanilla, smoke). Silky mouth, well melted tannins between volume and flexibility. A fairly exciting Bordeaux wine, in modernity, respect for fruit and naturalness, which gives direction for the future of the region?

Absolutely delicious. Lots of minerality. Stiff bouquet but smooth with a wonderful finish — 2 months ago

Terroir de Chablis Chardonnay 2022

Nose is a little reticent at first, giving shy whiffs of Granny Smith apples and crushed rock. Just the barest hint of Chablis “brothiness” as I like to call it. As it airs and warms, it’s a bit more forthcoming. In the mouth it’s on the lighter side, but certainly showing Chablis minerally character. Acids medium low. A nice aperitif Chablis but color me a bit disappointed, for now, given the producer. Will try to check back in after a few hours.

UPDATE: After several hours, showing noticeably more fruit and depth.

Cuvée Vieilles Vignes Terroir "Champagne" Fleurie Gamay 2015

Leftovers from our 2nd Annual, “Bierock Bonaza: Let’s have some funza with Runza”.

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of three hours. The 2015 pours a deep ruby with a slightly purple tinge and a near opaque core; medium+ viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of lightly stewed, spiced strawberry, ripe fig, and cherry lozenges, red flowers, green herbs, with a touch of leather, and a mix of organic and inorganic rocky earth. Just the faintest hint of mouse. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. The alcohol is also medium+. Delicious. Drink now through 2030.

Terroir de Granit St. Joseph Syrah 2018

Animale, iron, iodine, very mineral as well, great redfruits, wonderful acidity, very long, lingering finish, frankly a great St. Joseph, first time I’ve had this wine, but I think @Tom Casagrande nailed it in his review of the 2018!! — 6 months ago

@Doug Powers - I didn’t see the “Stolpman Grenache kinda sucked” review yet. (I’m surprised it sucked!)

@Tom Casagrande, weird thing yesterday when using Delectable — my posting of this wine showed up immediately (maybe because I tagged you??), and the Stoplman still doesn’t show up in my own feed?? I will note that the 2023 Stolpman was just like those 2 Tablas Creek reds (Grenache and Counoise) that I also panned because they were way too light yet were 14% ABV.

@Doug Powers - Seems like all the Kool Kids are trying to do Kool-Aid Grenache these days. An overreaction to CDPs now routinely hitting 16% and hitting the palate like liquid lead?
