76 year old Marsanne and Roussane vines. I can think of several Hermitage Blancs that pale in comparison to Sorrel’s C-H blanc, this is a benchmark Rhône white to me. Full of unique aromas, textural, loaded with glycerol and tannin, deeply mineral and complex, begs for the table. Roasted nuts, smashed apricots, peach skin, Rainier cherry, ripe pear, yellow flowers, root vegetables, wet stones, aniseed and honey. Hoping I will be able to age some, but most likely will drink it all up. — a year ago
Decanted about 1 hr.
N: Blood, dirt, mineral, iron, very sexy nose, constantly getting deeper, evolving,
P: Bright acidity, tannins are elusive but there, red/yellow plums, rainier cherries, mouth filling aromas, Northern Nebbiolo., it has that exquisite bittersweetness and lightness on your palate that makes you return again, again. — a month ago
2018 vintage. Open approx an hour. Simple, undistinguished nose. Fleshy medium body. Bunches of dark and Rainier cherry flavors along with the ubiquitous dark plum but that’s about it currently. Definitely not flashy nor a standout right now. Needs some time to come together. Not one of the showier 2018’s. — 9 months ago
Hard to get your hands on a bottle of this wine, but if you’re a fan of orange wines it might be worth a search for its yellow plum, rainier cherry, citrus peel, tangy yogurt, and sarsaparilla brightness. A blend of 72% Riesling, 10% Gewürztraminer, 10% Pinot Gris, and 8% Muscat fermented on the skins for 14 days aged for 7 months in neutral barrels and bottled with no added sulphur. — 10 months ago
My scores often reflect QPR and this is another great example! Medium + body on this, orange pink in color really pretty!
Aromas of Rainier cherries, cotton candy, nectarine, strawberries, watermelon Jolly Ranchers, peach and mild minerals. Palate pretty much the same! I have always enjoyed Charles Smith wines! — 8 months ago
Strawberries and cream with some fresh mint aroma. Bright mandarin like citrus upfront. The tartness makes that red berry note turn into more of a rainier cherry flavor. As I sit with it, I start to focus on a ripe pineapple note as well. This is one really enjoyable glass. — a year ago
