New Year’s Eve with a porterhouse steak. Capsicum/red pepper, herbal notes together with black currant. Oak has integrated well unlike the last tasting where it protruded somewhat. After a few hours and vigorous swirling red capsicum was the dominant note with the presence of geranium as part of the perfume. Shows the lighter 2008 vintage in Margaret River. — 4 years ago
Light bodied, slightly dry and moderate tannins. Easy drinking. Opened it up an hour before eating a porterhouse steak, but could have opened it 10-15 minutes before. Dark berries, little bit of tar, dried cherries. — 5 years ago
Violet & a hint of licorice. Great pairing with grilled porterhouse. Last glass threw some sediment, i plan tobdecantbthe next bottle. — 7 years ago
Very nice full flavor. Had it with a nice aged porterhouse. Vintage 2015 on April 5, 2019. — 7 years ago
When they sell a high quality hamburger blend at the local grocery market, you want a red wine that will make you feel like you are eating the finest porterhouse steak. This Argentina Red aged for 7 years fit the bill. Happy Summer 2018 everyone! — 8 years ago
Notes of tobacco and dusty black cherry. A bit more body than anticipated, still has pretty strong tannins. Paired amazingly with a mesquite-smoked porterhouse. — 9 years ago
Dark garnet purple with ruby garnet highlights. Abundant nose of blackberry and graphite leads into a full but lean palate of blackberry, leather ash, and ripe plum. Medium plus acidity and medium plus tannins balance the rich fruit yielding a New World Bordeaux-esque blend that’s ready to accompany any “red wine” meals. Upscale a meatloaf or pair with a porterhouse. Drink now through 2027 (with moderate development). — 4 years ago
Delightful! Crisp, citrus…. Not too oaky! A must buy! — 5 years ago
Just opened a bottle! Sette Ponti or "seven bridges," refers to the 7 bridges crossing the Arno River on the road from Arezzo to Florence. Blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cab Sauv & 10% Petit Verdot, aged 18 months in new French oak. Had this in a restaurant with a porterhouse. Very dark Ruby with concentrated aromas of dark fruits & earthy notes. Flavors of cherry & plum with tobacco and spice. Fine approachable tannins, medium length ending with a bit of spice as the finish builds. Great now! — 6 years ago
let it breathe for an hour., then marvelous with a Porterhouse steak — 7 years ago
Dark ruby garnet in the glass. Abundant nose of cassis and other purple fruit with a menthol base. Palate is full-bodied and dark with black currant, prune, and old violets. Medium acidity and just enough (medium minus) tannins to keep it food friendly; burgers to Porterhouse. Just make sure the food is flavorful. It needs the competition. Still holding up well 14 years on with maybe five or ten years left. — 8 years ago
Having with porterhouse — a year ago
About to go grill a beautiful porterhouse and popped this to go with it. So dead-on for old vine Howell Mountain fruit: intense cracked black peppercorn earthiness, stone dust, dark wild berry fruit. Palate is dense with the same components but whisked along by electric-tingly acids. It’s so hard to find that sweet spot of fruit, earth, acid, and this nails it. God this is good. — 3 years ago
Fantastic bottle of wine! We paired with a aged porterhouse steak and it was amazing!! — 5 years ago
Great nose. Smoky fire pit. Grilled beef. Dark ripe blackberry. A little leaner and less weighty in the mouth than the nose suggests. An initial wallop of savory flavors followed by some nice acidity, and then the finish slows down and lingers. Would be amazing with a grilled porterhouse. (I had it with pizza, which was less than ideal.) — 7 years ago
Delicious the 2nd time around. Served with Porterhouse and was extremely well balanced. Bold black cherry, acidity and tannic really paired well. — 8 years ago
Napa at its best. Perfect with porterhouse. — 8 years ago

From magnum. A well balanced well made medium bodied Cabernet from Mac Forbes in the Yarra Valley. Some vegetal notes to the red fruits but in balance and easy to drink with a Waygu Porterhouse on the 23rd with relatives from the UK. Probably at its peak. Bought back in the day as we have a son named Hugh who is with us from NYC and like many of his contemporaries has given up drinking! — 6 months ago
