Sette Ponti or "seven bridges," refers to the 7 bridges crossing the Arno River on the road from Arezzo to Florence. Blend of 50% Merlot, 40% Cab Sauv & 10% Petit Verdot, aged 18 months in new French oak. Went to a tasting, had ‘14 & ‘15 side by side. Very dark enticing red with concentrated aromas of dark fruits & earthy notes. Flavors of cherry & plum with tobacco and spice. Firm but approachable tannins, medium length ending with a bit of spice as the finish builds. Best to drink ‘14 now. Tasting Sample.

Big, bold, intense. In your face blend (in an old world sense) of dark berry fruit, smoke, camphor, and dense tannins.

Strong chocolate on the nose with ripe red fruit. The palate expresses ripe fruit with a dried cocoa on the finish. A wonderful wine.

Bought at Pine Orchard 3/17, $50. Very full bodied and smooth, strong tannins.

Pretty good. Almost as if it was overripe and underripe at the same time though. Maybe Merlot was too ripe and the cab underripe. Just a guess 🤷🏻‍♂️

After having an ‘11 Oreno a few months ago I was apprehensive on the ‘14. I was wrong. This may not have the age worthiness if other super-Tuscans in its class, but it is drinking out of the bottle like a super star. And I’m the dumbass who didn’t get every bottle @winelibrary had at $30.

Best bang for your buck! Will definitely age nicely in the next 10 years.
