See previous note from February 2023. A full bodied Margaret River Cabernet - cassis and herbs. This is really good. From the dress circle Wilyabrup area of northern Margaret river with neighbours like Moss Wood, Woodlands, Vasse Felix and Cullen etc. Barb said woody notes (not meaning oak influence). All the best Margaret River Cabernet attributes with the texture and mouthfeel of an excellent Barossa Shiraz. We both loved this wine. Have the last one in mid 2025.

Quite a youthful colour for 15 years. Liquorice and herbs on nose. Medium weight - those herbal notes coming through on the palate. Very savoury - not much fruit in evidence - a little mulberry perhaps. After a while a cedar note on the nose. A very good Margaret River Cabernet Sauvignon.

New Year’s Eve with a porterhouse steak. Capsicum/red pepper, herbal notes together with black currant. Oak has integrated well unlike the last tasting where it protruded somewhat. After a few hours and vigorous swirling red capsicum was the dominant note with the presence of geranium as part of the perfume. Shows the lighter 2008 vintage in Margaret River.

See notes from 124 weeks ago still apply. Notes of mulberry, black currant - a little heavy on the oak but not off putting. Geranium, stalky, peppery, and bay leaf. Medium bodied still with good freshness for 12 years old. Fine grained tannins to finish. In the dress circle of Wilyabrup in Margaret River. Will compare with Woodlands 2nd ranked cuvée from 2010 next.

Rich crimson colour. Aromas of cedar and cassis with some oaky vanilla notes. After about an hour in the decanter there were obvious Geranium notes. A good quality Margaret River Cabernet but a little behind the elite, but then again so is the price. Now in its 10th year and could cellar for longer but hard to see the mid palate improving which is what this wine needs. This is my first of 6 so should get a wriggle on!
