Le Tannat

2007 vintage. A 100% Tannat made by a Bordeaux producer (Philippe Courrian also owns Chateau La Tour Haut Caussan) in the Languedoc ( Corbières). Sounds interesting, and it is very good indeed. A little bit animal-like at first, give it some time to breathe in order to discover a panoply of dried herbs, spices and dried black fruits. Rustic, powerful and tannic, still very much alive. Long dry finish. Might not be for everyone, but it has a lot of personality. Try with a wild boar stew. Abv. 14%. Production about 2000 bottles. — 3 days ago

Auxey-Duresses Chardonnay 2017

P/q +. — 11 days ago

Côte du Py Morgon Gamay 2013

Certainly one of the estate's fine cuvée. As the Cote du Py produces concentrated and deep Gamay wines, the Morgons produced there develop nuances which gain depth with a few years of aging. Here, the 2013 is still very lively, and full of delicacy, carrying a potential for another 5 years and a Burgundy Pinot-Noir side which gives it a lot of refinement. A light wine, full of nuances.

Moulin-à-Vent Gamay 2017

One of the most successful cuvées of the domain, which gives to taste the possible junction between Beaujolais and Burgundy. Wine with a simple and delicious refinement. The woody notes blend harmoniously with Gamay and terroir notes. All in nuances with a beautiful airy aromatic concentration.

Star bright yellow gold. Abundant, bosomy nose of yellow apples and magnolia blossom. Medium palate yields the same though the flowers show more as birch and citrus rind. Firm, almost tannic acidity — decanting recommended — that softens with some air but makes for a perfect seafood wine. Lengthy finish. 2015 was one of those classic years across Europe. Here’s a perfect entry into Bourgogne Blanc from that year. Drink now through 2030 when you don’t want to spring for Mersault or another paled higher end quaff. — a month ago
