Bright yellow gold. Baked quince, honeysuckle, and ripe red apple on the abundant nose. Full palate of baked quince, balsa wood, and a hint of raw vanilla and white pellet on the finish. Medium plus acidity. I call this the “baby Meursault” as it delivers much of the weight and complexity of its higher end sibling at a more everyday price. Drink now through 2027 with roasted chicken, swordfish, or other hearty white wine fare. — 4 years ago
One of my favorites from Premiere Napa Valley 2020. #pnv20 #pnv2020 #napa only 5 cases produced. Highlights
A vibrant blend of two clones of Cabernet Sauvignon and a bit of Merlot, revealing silky tannins, complexity and elegance
The heritage Pellet Vineyard dates to 1863 and is among the earliest in St. Helena
100% estate, 100% French oak (Darnajou and Cadus), 100% passion; produced by hand, vineyard to bottle
A very lucky find indeed—the best of the best from the Pellet Vineyard, a true labor of love
Pellet Estate’s 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon “Trouvaille” is 100 percent estate fruit from the historic Pellet Vineyard and is a blend of Clone 4 and Clone 337 Cabernet Sauvignon, with a bit of Merlot. It is a wine with grip – vibrant and complex, yet shows elegance, balance, all while packed with flavors of dark fruit, hints of chocolate and spice, showing silky tannins with a seductive mouthfeel. This wine represents the absolute authentic expression of the Pellet Vineyard and is classically made by iconic vintner Tom Rinaldi. Quite frankly, as Tom and Eric think, “It’s a lucky find indeed.”

Color of bubbly clear dark ruby with orange and brown note on the rim. Nose of good fresh berries, even dark fruits notes, plum, but fades away quite quickly. Taste follows the nose with addition of violet, cherry jam, good tannins, spicy and zesty, not a light Pinot for sure. Aftertaste of some more pellet spice note, and more zesty note. A bit too much bittersweet but definitely a unique Pinot. — 7 years ago
Superb as always and one of my favorite NV Cabs; dark red, blue and black fruits, cocoa, cedar, little bit of earthiness; sweet tannins; 50/50 Panek/Pellet Vineyards; definitely some of the deeper, darker fruitiness from the Pellet here; more than what I recall from previous vintages. — 8 years ago

Tried 2014 vintage, bold flavor and tamed tannins, great with steak and a caesar salad!! — 4 years ago
First ever attempt at smoking salmon on my pellet grill and decided to pair with this Pinot. For the marinade I chose for the meat the wine was a tad bit weak but that doesn’t diminish the overall quality. Seemed to have a bit more blueberry on the nose and palate with some earth tones. Bit lighter than other Sonoma Pinots and might have you think of an Oregon Pinot. — 6 years ago
Blackberry, raspberry, cassis, dark chocolate, vanilla, plum and oak. Full-bodied and soft tannins. — 6 years ago
Enjoyed this red blend with hamburgers on a pellet grill. Great pairing. Tasted raspberry and full of fruit. — 8 years ago
Produces Bordeaux-style wines, family owned by Norm McKibben, Ray Goff and Jean-François Pellet. A blend of 78% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc & 7% Malbec, aged for 17 months in French oak (38% new), aromas of sweet berry fruit with rustic spice character. On the palate cherry and raspberry with smoky leather and cacao notes. Fine tannins nicely balanced on lingering finish ending with oaky tones. Very nice drinking well but has room to age a bit. A classic Walla Walla. — 8 years ago

I skipped the middle ground. Went basic Napa & top end Las Piedras, both were good so this had to be too,

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and fat legs.

This 12 year old Chardonnay from Sonoma County is still drinking beautifully. Elegant and rich. Spicy and oily. Nicely balanced with a buttery mouthfeel.
Needs 30 minutes to open up properly, but good right out of the bottle too, and better when not too cold.
