2021 not to dry perfect — 4 years ago
Deep burnt orange in color with a lighter orange cream mousse and tiny bubbles. Wonderful nose of dried apricots and honeysuckle. This is echoed on the rich (of course) palate. Lowish (medium minus) acidity — it’s Vidal after all — offset by the tingle of the bubbles. Stone fruity moderate finish. Hard to dislike any icewine, even if it’s Vidal, and the bubbles add a surprising element of fun to this one. A nice celebratory dessert wine to drink with your birthday cake or New Year’s pudding. Will likely lose some bubbles after a decade, but should satisfy through 2039 and beyond. — 5 years ago

Light ruby in color. It’s from Canada. And it smells of dry grasses and wild flowers. Or maybe those are just the smells stuck in my nose. It’s family time here at the lake house in Canada, with all the tension and buried hurts family time can entail. Enter this Pinot noir. The scent of violet, the taste of rose petals, tart cherries, and red currants. It’s new and familiar at the same time. Brings me right back to myself. Families are families, for better or for worse. Then wine, old grapes made in a new way, complex and fleeting, helps give you the long view and takes you right back home. — 7 years ago
Liked this previously. But today comes across quite rough. Touch volatile acid aka Ethylacetate. Cherry and quite bitty. 13%. Good enough but not more. — 2 months ago
Very interesting and unique Willamette Pinot. Cherry, spice, and heavy earthy aromas on the initial opening. Allow time to breathe so it can fully open up. Slightly chewy for a Pinot, but immensely flavorful and full bodied. — 7 months ago
Not the champagne I had in mind for tonight, but sometimes circumstances play their part.
This is pleasant enough. It will go well with my almond tart later.
The mouthfeel shows nice mousse, somewhat lively acidity, bruised golden/red/green apple to apple sauce, bruised pear, white citrus blend-grapefruit w/ pith leading, quince, touch of brown sugar, some yeastiness, baguette crust, graham cracker, volcanic minerals w/ clay, white spice, caramel notes, vanillin, sea spray, grippy, grainy chalk, sea fossils-oysters, limestone marl, withering lilies, spring flowers, nice acidity and a well balanced, good length, elegant finish that lasts nearly 90 second and lands on mid intensity minerals and spice.

Very nice balance of sweetness and acidity. — 5 years ago
Another wine from the winery in Niagara Canada. Ruby red with a bit of brown tint. Cherry flavor. A relatively new well maintained winery, close to the US border. Wish I had time to do tasting onsite. — 5 years ago
A very tasty Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Showing black fruits with cedar, vanilla, leather, spices, earth, chocolates, tobacco and herbs.
Bone dry on the palate, and full bodied with medium acidity.
Needs time to open up properly.
Still young and needs a few years in the bottle to mature properly.
Wine Advocate 92 points.
Spicy and tangy finish with firm tannins.
14.2% alcohol by volume.
91 points.

@Plate & Bottle Dinner
Dessert Course, Warm Berry Cobbler, House Made Vanilla, Lemon Verbena Ice Cream.
Amazing dessert. Pairing the cobbler with the Ruinart Rosé and the Charles Heidsieck Brut Reserve as well. Both good/appropriate for the dual aspects of the cobbler.
Dessert has blackberries and raspberries with lemon and crumble on top (tiny bit of cinnamon) and vanilla lemon verbena ice cream. There are flavors here that call for Rosé & Blanc de Blanc Champange.

Nose: One of the most captivating Chardonnays I’ve encountered. Enticing layers of lemon tart, ripe lychee, fragrant perfume, and a distinctive touch of holy basil.
Palate: Medium-bodied yet intensely flavorful, bursting with bright lemon curd, silky cream, and toasted notes. The acidity is vibrant and refreshing, keeping everything lively. Oak is present and supportive, adding structure without ever overpowering the fruit. — 5 months ago
Happy Friday!
Been having a lot of Blanc Brut lately. Sooo good to get back to one of our favorite N/V Rosé Champagne’s.
Numerous, numerous notes stand.
Tonight; Blood orange, pink grapefruit covered in an ice cream creamsicle, volcanic, powdery chalkiness, sea fossils, pink roses, excellent acidity and balance, elegance and polish for days.

Very good, vary sweet, had it with some blueberry cobbler and that really brought out the strawberry — a month ago
