Very savoury aromatics - earthy , mushrooms, wet nappy, leather, plums. The palate is medium bodied finishing with grippy fine powdery tannins - a little astringent. This wine is middle aged and will carry on through to the mid 2020’s. I have had better Brunellos. Will put it down to the vintage where there are differing views. Delicious jammy blend. Smooth hints of vanilla and pairs well with smoky bbq flank steak — 4 years ago
Pears and green apples bouquet. Initial citrus and green apple tartness. Then a sweettart middle. Lingering pears on the finish. Very crisp and fresh. — 8 months ago

I am a big fan of David Swift Phinney wines. In 1998 David founded Orin Swift Cellars; Orin is his father’s middle name and Swift is his mother’s maiden name. Aged 10 mos in French oak, 42% new, Ruby with complex aromas of fresh fruits, floral and herb spice, nice mouthfeel. On the palate flavors of raspberry and cherry with cacao and hints of pepper spice. Rich full chewy tannins, well balanced on long finish ending with fruit and earthy spice. — 3 years ago

92-93 for me.
Consumed half bottle at pop, then corked for another 4hrs before consuming the rest. No change.
What a beautifully elegant and refined ‘09. The highest compliment I can give this is that it was a simplistic joy. Some wines make it easy to get nerdy and command your attention…some wines are underwhelming and not worth your time. This was squarely in the middle. It was a joy to not feel the need to overthink…it’s exactly what it should be. No bricking at almost 15yrs. Decidedly black fruit heavy (black currant, cassis, underripe blackberries) with a sprinkling of raspberries and black cherries. Aromas of sweet pipe tobacco, dark florals. Integrated on the palate with good structure and acidity…not a massive wine, but it put on a bit of weight/length the longer it was open. Still sporting a fair bit of tannin at the finish, but it’s balanced. Drink or hold. — 7 months ago
