Brett has overtaken this wine. Don’t get sucked in by the sexy price and vintage on a wine list. Not complex, not good...I should have known better.

Still have the old label. Medium rich body with leather note and soft but still powerful finish.

Volatile acidity, gamey Brett, then mild fruit with iron and blood. On its decline. Falls part after 60 min. Pair w food.

We sell a lot of this favorite second wine and the 1999 is quite elegant, with intense concentration and complexity. Plus, it is drinking well now. This estate is one of K&L’s veteran Bordeaux expert Ralph Sands’ favorites. I just tasted (July 7) another bottle from this recent shipment. Wonderful Bordeaux to drink tonight with a lamb chop. Some smoky aromas with cola and red fruit undertones. Typical, elegant 1999 Bordeaux with a sweet middle palate and smooth finish.

Alongside 98 Carruades. Surprise wine by far. Also needed hours to open fully but then very powerful— shocking punch for a second wine. Finish marginally shorter than the Carruades.

A bit over the top. Still a nice wine.

For an 18 year old “second” wine, very impressive. Dark fruits and tobacco with some abuse notes.

Great wine.
