Very powerful and deep. Brooding notes of dark plum. Some oak, spice and blood. Great stuff but very hard to unpack right now. — a year ago

Outstanding example of a Madeline Angevine. — 9 years ago
This Lirac blanc is 40% Marsanne, 35% Clairette, 20% Grenache Blanc, and 5% Picpoul — the Marsanne really shows out, the Grenache Blanc adds some fatness, while the Picpoul adds some nice bracing acidity, this has long been one of my favorite southern Rhone whites, this really shows the richness and power of the 2022 vintage, lovely!! — 7 months ago
A cross between Riesling and Madeleine Royal. Lemon color with aromas of ripe stone and tropical fruits and herb spice. On the palate flavors of peaches, apple, lemon and melon with wet stone mineral. Vivid acidity with great mouthfeel on medium+ finish ending with fruit and herbs. Good now. — 2 years ago

Harder on the nose than in the mouth. Not much fruit. More licorice and then coffee. — 7 years ago

From goblet-trained old-vine Clairette in Lirac (vineyard was “planted before 1870) on a hill overlooking the Rhône on the west side of the river, this lovely white wine shows honey and minerals, also some very nice acidity to balance, Clairette (which I adore) rarely shows the more viscous textural notes I get from southern Rhône Blancs that are mostly Roussanne and/or Marsanne (the latter mostly found in the northern Rhône), very good finish, lovely wine!!
I have actually walked this vineyard (6 years ago), the gnarled old vines are a pretty cool sight!! — a year ago
2020 vintage. The last vintage for this wine as it was bought from the Bécot family ( owners of Beauséjour-Bécot) by the owners of Haut-Brion in 2021. It will be incorporated into Château Quintus (which is a merger of 3 estates: Tertre-Daugay, L'Arrosée and Grand-Pontet). Many Saint-Emilion estates disappeared, incorporated into other estates, some very good wines sadly disappeared like Curé Bon La Madeleine (now into Canon), Cadet-Piola (now into Soutard) and so on. The fact that Grand Cru Classés can legally be incorporated into Premier Grands Crus Classés tells you that you have to take the classification with more than a grain of salt. A bit shy on the nose, even after a few hours. Medium-bodied, nice value for a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru Classé. — 3 years ago
Woke up after one hour. Powerful aroma with oak, black currant and other fruits. Earthy, fallen leaves flavor which were initially found was surpassed by vanilla and concentration. Spicy and dry. Traditional. Château Grand Ormeau Lalande de Pmerol Cabernet Sauvignon Blend Cuvée Madeleine 2001 @1280, domaine XH, 210821 — 5 years ago

Delicious! Actually has a lot of similarity to Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Blanc. I’m not an expert, yet... but if I blind tasted this I would have guessed a New Zealand Sauv Blanc. Notes of Grapefruit, Lemon, Lime, Mandarin Orange, Green Apple, Lychee, Pear, Nectarine with hints of Slate and some Salinity. Low alcohol at 11% and good acidity with a medium finish. — 8 years ago
