We selected this French wine in honor of Chief Paul Bocuse who passed yesterday. We never personally met Monsieur Paul directly but had the ultimate experience of dinning at his restaurant in Lyon. You are considered the greatest chief of all time by many and will forever remain an inspiration to chiefs world wide. The wine is not a “10” but you Monsieur Paul are a perfect “10”. We bid you adieu. Cheers 🍷🇫🇷 — 3 days ago
I generally consider Sauvignon Blancs as fun yet unsophisticated wines with crisp citrus notes.
That being said I was pleasantly assured by this wine’s crisp citrus aromas of grapefruit, lime and lemon but then impressed by the sharply piquant acidity, layered flavored spectrum of lemongrass, lime and tropical delights. This well-balanced Sauvignon Blanc is not your basic white summer refreshment no it’s much more than that and at $15.00 CAD a worthy find.
Produced by Mission Hills Wines with grapes from their Oliver & Osoyoos Vineyards. 13.5% alc/vol Cheers 🍷🇨🇦 — a month ago
Tonight my wife and I are hosting a wine tasting dinner with friends but after an epic winter of steep and deep powder skiing and the fireplace roaring what better way to clear the palate than with a clean crisp British Columbian IPA. Now on to the wine. Cheers 🍻🇨🇦 — 10 days ago
I don’t get it, Wine Align rates this Okanagan white blend at 90 points and is the reason I bought it. The Wine Awards of Canada gave it a Silver but maybe it was just my bottle but both my wife and I found it flat, unbalanced and single dimensional with an unpleasant after taste. In summary I am glad that we are cooking later today. Oh well on to the next one Cheers 🍷🇨🇦 — 17 days ago
We bought this bottle at the Cirque Restaurant with dinner at the Lizard Creek Lodge. Ordered to match a superb Alberta beef tenderloin this was my second choice since they were out of the Napa Pinot. Expecting nothing more than an enjoyable meal accompaniment this wine got our attention. From its opening elegant aromas of raspberry, blackberries, subtle hints of sage and spices to its oaked finish of pepper and cloves this bronze winner at the Decanter World Wine Awards in 2016 punches well above its weight. At $25.00 CAD this balanced long legged Okanagan Valley Pinot is a find. 13% alc/vol. Cheers 🍷🇨🇦 — 5 days ago
When you think of Shiraz you think of Australia, when you think of Australia you think of the Barossa Valley, and when you think of Barossa Valley Shiraz you immediately think of Penfolds. This silver award winning Bin 150 is a perfect testament to their “House Style “ wine making philosophy. Rich, intense, balanced and full bodied with tastes of black currant, clove and sweet dark chocolate this is a smooth winner that will not let you down. Cheers 🍷 — 10 days ago
On a cold, snowy subzero Fahrenheit night with the fireplace roaring Mrs A and I decided to switch from the more traditional winter wines to a summery Sauvignon Blanc from the Okanagan’s Mission Hills Estate. This lovely balanced wine displays aromas of grapefruit, lemon, lime and may I say herbaceous notes and its crisp finish was a perfect match for Christmas leftovers of turkey, ham, whipped potatoes and cranberry sauce. This is an enjoyable and approachable wine year-round that is worthy of your attention. Cheers 🍷🇨🇦 — a month ago
