A Chardonnay that always delivers. At first touch, buttery, toasty and stone fruits that hit my spots. A beautiful Easter Chardonnay. — a year ago

Nobles Rives Crozes-Hermitage Syrah 2021

Deep ruby in color; graphite, cherries, and bell pepper on the nose; medium acidity, medium tannins; tastes like raspberries, cranberries, and crushed gravel with a long finish. Nellie, Brian, Jen, Ray,and Christy like it. I do too. — 2 years ago

Clos Marcilly Mercurey 1er Cru Chardonnay 2019

Popped and poured and it’s nice right out of the gate. Nose has lots of wet straw-inflected earthiness, and almost Chablis-like brothy note, a vague whiff of toasted barrels, and some pear skin fruit. Lots of earth, crushed stone, and apple-pear fruit on the palate. Medium acids, and a weighty, lengthy finish with a dark, bitterish note that grows (in a nice way). Lots of character. — 2 years ago

Les Maranches Mâcon-Uchizy Chardonnay 2003

Amazing and totally unexpected! — a Chardonnay from a monster hot year, but the age has mellowed it like crazy, oxidated it gently, and it ends up tasting like it’s the softest sherry from Jerez — 5 years ago

Whelan Wine, I do have a soft spot for PN, all the red berries, smooth tannins, lovely defo have again. — 7 years ago

Pouilly-Fuisse Chardonnay 2014

Very pleasurable indeed. The 14' P-F's another excellent value number from Lafon's Macconais line-up. Quite firmly reduced, yet the underlying fruit still seems ripe. Floral tones. Rich with a decent dollop of oak, but all framed in mouth-watering acidity. Certainly a mineral drop. Atm, I've got a slight preference for the 16' Clos du Four due to its sheer potential and seemingly greater comcentration. — 8 years ago

Waxy, stone, fruit, white peach, crumbly limestone mineral water without the chalkiness. Un ripe stone fruit and lychee fruit tang. Very delicious, wish I would’ve had it a tad bit colder. — 5 months ago

Santenay Chardonnay 2020

@Delectable Wine - This is the Santenay Blanc. New oak leads on the nose, with really nice ripe apple, verging into each, fruit and some Burgundian gravel. On the palate, the wine has a nice soft mouthfeel and reasonably complex flavors, maybe tilting a bit too much on the oaky side if I were to quibble. — 2 years ago

Fantastic, but youthful even with a 4H decant. Perfumed cherry notes with trailing dried cranberries, crushed red raspberry, tannins say open 2030+.

Château Beauséjour

Héritiers Duffau-Lagarrosse Saint-Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2013

Deep Ruby with aromas of black fruits, complex spice and notes of herbs and forest floor. On the palate subtle flavors cherry and red plum with notes of cacao, espresso and licorice. Fine tannins, adding to great mouthfeel, long finish ending with toasty cedar notes and earthy herb mineral. Good now as fruit starting to fade a bit, but still showing beauty and grace. Nice! — 6 years ago

Viré-Clessé Chardonnay 2014

Wanted to drink this after listening to Dominique’s IDTT interview. Found the best nationally priced bottle in Pasadena and it showed really nicely, particularly after being open for something like 4 hours. I like his winemaking approach here, which doesn’t seem to be about elevating it beyond its provenance. It’s a delicious, mineral wine that would crush with shellfish and was lovely in the afternoon along with The Trip to Spain. — 8 years ago

Château de Lamarque

Marquis d'Evry Red Bordeaux Blend 2021

Château de Lamarque “Héritiers des Marquis d’Evry” 2021
Haut-Médoc, Bordeaux, France 🇫🇷

Overview
This vintage is a classic Bordeaux blend—Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot—sourced from a historic Haut-Médoc château with roots stretching back to the 15th century. It’s the “second wine” of Château de Lamarque, offering approachability while retaining estate quality. The appellation’s gravelly terroir and structured style are evident in every sip.

Aromas & Flavors
Rippling with blackcurrant and cassis, the wine is wreathed in cedar, tobacco, and earthy undertones. On the palate, dense fruit and toast meld with a hint of spice—classic left-bank elegance with that savory Médoc streak.

Mouthfeel
Medium to full-bodied with refined tannins and vibrant acidity. A balanced structure makes it satisfying now, while promising graceful evolution over the next 5–10 years.

Winemaking Notes
The estate cultivates a blend of vines: roughly 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot. Fermentation occurs in hidden concrete vats, followed by aging—with about 25% in new French oak barrels.

Food Pairing
Perfectly paired with robust fare: beef steaks, roast lamb, silverside, game, and dishes enveloped in rich, savory sauces.

Verdict
A solid Haut-Médoc “second wine” that mirrors the terroir and tradition of Château de Lamarque at a more accessible level—classic, savory, and beautifully balanced. Cheers!

Les Héritiers Renaud

Pouilly-Fuissé Chardonnay 2020

Les héritiers renaud, pouilly fuissé 2020
Wine 5 of my birthday blind tasting. The richness of the nose and the somewhat low acid palate threw me in the wrong direction. I called white saint joseph 🤷‍♂️.
There is pear, pineapple, lemon and tangerine on the nose, along with some chalky notes. It's not textbook. The palate is rich and broad, with pear, white peach and lemony notes. It’s almost sweet. There is a bit of phenolic grip in the rear, and a nice finish that ends up with a bit of bitter note. It’s actually quite nice and I must confess that I have been overlooking southern Burgundy whites largely over the past few years and I will need to remedy that.

Héritiers de Lambert Pomerol Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

Good value. Dark fruit and spice on the nose. Approachable on opening with plum, dark cherries, blackberries, undergrowth and a touch of graphite. Pleasant mouthwatering acidity at the front followed by moderate lingering tannins. Not a lot of layers but overall very good. — 3 years ago

Domaine des Billards (Héritiers Loron)

Clos des Billards Saint-Amour Gamay 2019

American geography ignoramus that I am, little did I know that the Northernmost tip of the Rhone- Cote Rotie- is the kissing cousin of Beaujolais. St. Amour is more midpoint, but has that great granite terroir which makes this long standing Cru Bojo (& under 20$) a perennial fave. It’s that mineral tautness I love. — 5 years ago

This bottle drank like a fine sherry. Lots of savory nuttiness and tinted a deep deep orange. Not sure if it was the bottle or the vintage that lost its structure....but It's lucky I'm a sherry fan. — 8 years ago
