Bourgogne Aligoté 2009

The last time I was fortunate to enjoy the 2009 Bourgogne Aligoté was early 2025 so imagine my excitement to try this again. Looking back at my previous notes, not much has changed!

Opened about 30min prior to service. The 2009 pours a straw color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is still developing and reductive (as is common) with strong notes of struck match, apple, lime, herbs and minerals. On the palate, the wine is dry with high acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and a touch saline. Worked well with toro crudo. This bottle still needs air. Remarkable Aligoté. I’m revising my previous assessment on drinking window; this example seems to have the stuffing to show deep into next decade. Drink now with maybe a short decant, through 2039. Les Amoureuses Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Pinot Noir 2005

2005 vintage. Nice fill. Great cork. Not decanted. Tasted after one hour open. Fully integrated and pretty close to the top of the bell curve...maybe another year or two? This was firing. Uncommon balance. Medium body. Tannins and fruit in lockstep. 7.25.26. — a month ago

2023. Dark red raspberry. Pepper and a touch of baking spices. Super powerful. This is not a delicate pinot. There are wines that are a privilege to drink. This is that. — 5 months ago

Chambolle-Musigny Pinot Noir 2020

Medium ruby , bright with quite wide ruby rim . Ripe red berries on the nose , really open and expressive, strawberry , raspberry , some herbal tinges also . Quite ripe , but still enough freshness . On the palate ripe red fruits , strawberry , raspberry and light red cherry . Suave tannins , integrated alcohol and fresh acidity , still with silky mouthfeel . Good slightly stony tinged red fruit finish . Drinking very well but still young and fruit driven , quite ripe but still well balanced . From now and over the next 5 -8 years . At Cave & Cuisine , Demigny, 10km from Beaune , well worth a visit. — 3 months ago

Crystalline red fruit, seamless, with great persistence. This is why you drink Burgundy. — 5 months ago
