Ochetti Langhe Nebbiolo 2019

Located halfway up the hill dominating the principal valley of Barolo, supported by steep slopes lined by orderly vineyards, lies the 15th century Abbey of Annunziata. Medium Ruby with aromas of ripe berry fruits with earthy herb notes, aged for 12 months on oak. On the palate flavors of cherry, strawberry and raspberry with sweet vanilla spice. Fine tannins, vivid acidity, medium+ finish ending with earthy fruit character. Good value, Barolo like without $$! — 3 years ago

Suisun Valley Grand Durif 2017

Suisun (su-soon) Valley, which lies to the Southeast of Caymus and a 40-minute drive. Dark Ruby with aromas of dark fruit and exotic spices on this Petite Sirah. On the palate flavors of blackberry and ripe blueberry with smoky oak, herb notes and dusty drying smooth tannins. Well balanced on a long finish ending with a mineral tang. @Henk schouten Totally fair to disagree, taste is personal. But just to say: I’m not critiquing the correctness. I’m critiquing the effect. There’s a kind of technical polish that can drain the soul out of a wine. Beaumard’s been doing that for years. This bottle’s just another example.

If you rate a 35yo wine with 9.2 how can that be boring
Lyle Fass

@Henk schouten At a certain point you just realize: the internet is where good faith goes to die. I said the wine was boring. I stand by that. Not flawed. Not bad. Just soulless in a way that technical wines often are. If that offends you, maybe ask why it matters so much.

Marcenasco Barolo Nebbiolo 2015

Located halfway up the hill dominating principal valley of Barolo, lined by vineyards, lies a precious 15th century Abbey of Annunziata. Medium Ruby with complex aromas of berry fruits, oak and fresh floral scents. On the palate dried cherry, tobacco, licorice, espresso and fresh herbs give this full-body wine grace and elegance. Soft fine dusty tannins, with earthy notes, on a well balanced frame makes this hot vintage wine approachable today as well as have room to run over the next decade. Very Nice! — 4 years ago

Domaine des Baumard

Savennières Chenin Blanc 2017

Really like this Wine, tasting ‘17 & ‘18 together, ‘17 notes. The Baumard family growing the noble Chenin at Rochefort in the Anjou for centuries, in 1953 they acquired a vineyard in the Quarts de Chaume, & in 1968, purchased acreage in Savennieres. Straw with full fruit and light spice aromas. On the palate ripe apple, pear & melon, complex, with vivid acidity. Lingering, ending with mineral and sweet honey character. Wow. A white that should age well. Had ‘16 a while ago, and also great! — 6 years ago

Has 10% Merlot, aged in French Allier barriques, deep Ruby with red fruit aromas and floral notes. On the palate blackberry, plum and cherry flavors with blossom notes, spice and fine integrated tannins. Good balance, long finish ending with some oak and mineral tones. Nice! Will age a bit more!
