Masseto

Toscana Merlot 2008

+1 hour decant(lots of sediment). A gorgeous dark purplish magenta color. On the nose: very aeromatic nose of dark cherry, black olives, tobacco, toasty oak, eucalyptus, roasted meat, milk chocolate. Taste: deep, rich, silky, creamy wine with dark plum, bitter coffee grounds, earth, licorice, new leather, graphite, dried herbs, pepper, and a medium plus finish. YUM! — 9 days ago

Vietti

Perbacco Langhe Nebbiolo 2021

This is a blend of mostly Barolo with a tad of Barbaresco Nebbiolo. It is bright as can be, full of red cherry, a whiff of earth and something even a tad sanguine. It is tasty and ready to drink now but could use more integration — 2 months ago

Tenuta San Guido

Guidalberto Toscana Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot 2022

Pop and pour WOW. Old world dried flowers on the nose. Elegant on the palate with balance of acidity and soft tannins - that linger on the front and middle of the tongue. More layers of flavors than I can describe with roses, mixed berries, clove, leather, tobacco, etc., and none were dominant. What a pleasant surprise. — 17 days ago

Produttori del Barbaresco

Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2019

Our last meal at the Lone Eagle Grill in Tahoe as it is closing at the end of the month! A great wine with my Blueberry Thyme Elk! Nice berry aromas with a rich long smooth finish. Will miss the restaurant! I’ve not had a bad Produttori wine. — 2 days ago

Valdicava

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2006

Particularly earthy and elegant, the 2006 Valdicava Brunello displays a dark primary fruit appearance, but in its nineteenth year, it has clearly evolved from a dense, fruit bomb into a more refined pour with gentle and teasing tertiary aromas and flavors.

It is soft, flavorful, medium bodied, still well structured with light tannins and brisk acidity, and reveals interesting and savory notes of baking spices, dried fruits, nuts and herbal underbrush. The finish is long and satisfying. Aficionados of well aged wines, this is for you!

Azienda Agricola Fontodi

Flaccianello della Pieve Colli Toscana Centrale Sangiovese 2010

Should have decanted and filtered on the pour. It was a different wine in the last half due to the sediment. Still very enjoyable and a solid wine from a great vintage. Smooth and balanced good harmony of fruit with earthiness. — 15 days ago

Giacomo Conterno

Riserva Monfortino Barolo Nebbiolo 2008

Jumped back on the horse with an 08 when the 99 proved fake. This one was the real deal. Wasn’t the best Monfortino though. Decanted and let it open for several hours while the Super Bowl unfolded. Go Eagles!!! Layered and foreboding. It didn’t have the best balance with the fruit but it was nonetheless a weighty joy. — 9 days ago

Tenuta dell'Ornellaia

Le Serre Nuove dell'Ornellaia Bolgheri Rosso Merlot Blend 2022

Very giving for a 22. All the ingredients there, freshness and acidity. If you’re going for this style wine, at $75, this is a winner. — 9 days ago
