Chablis 1er cru from Christian Moreau for the New Year celebrations with my landlord. I shouldn't have, some people don't understand anything about wine.
I learned about this wine during our corporate event at The Icon on 22.12.2023, where waiters were trying to increase the company's note 🙃 it's was a nice time.

This is lovely!! Like a stewed red berries and cinnamon slightly on the nose. Black currant yummyness. Sort of a christmasy excitement I would say. — 5 years ago
An icon of Australian Red wine. Unfortunately a strong whiff of H2S on the Nose. I have struck this problem previously with also Henschke Mount Edelstone on a couple of occasions. The hallmark of this wine has always been its beautiful supple silky tannins with flavours of plum and raspberry. Tannins totally resolved. The product of a 140 year single vineyard in the Eden Valley. Unfortunately prices these days have gone through the roof. I hope we don’t encounter the H2S in subsequent bottles. — 7 years ago

Nice very drinkable red from Washington’s Columbia Valley. Rich plum and other dark fruits, smokey with warm silk finish. — 9 years ago

Ruby/crimson in colour - a tawny rim developing. A little porty to begin with - the trademark Wendouree/Clare Valley menthol/eucalyptus. A note of Iodine. Very earthy on the palate. This wine speaks of the ancient terroir where vines have been planted since the 1880’s. Full bodied, intense and powerful even at 25 years of age. A true icon of Australian wine but even Wendouree Shiraz does have an end point and I think this 1999 has reached its peak. — 2 years ago

A new upcoming Chilean icon blend @ £100-£120 that’s becoming a favourite of mine 😍 Did you know they play relaxing music to the wine in the barrel whilst it develops 💗 I reviewed the 2012 a few weeks back 😉 and can’t wait for 2013 to come out! I’ve still not tried their first 2010 release ... yet

Remarkably well preserved. Color still ruby. From a true icon. — 8 years ago
A blend of Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Zinfandel, this shows the Prisoner’s trademark plush style despite its surprisingly modest 13.9% ABV. Dense blackberries, blueberry compote, and ripe plum, framed vanilla, cocoa, and toasted spice. The palate is smooth, dark, and velvety, with the richness and polish typical of the house, but with slightly more lift and freshness than expected. — 5 months ago
Meaty aromatics with spice, liquorice and a little pepper. An excellent medium plus bodied Shiraz which has always been one of my favourite Australian Reds. Medium plus intensity of flavour. Oak has been totally integrated. The next day comparing with a Te Mata Bullnose Shiraz from Hawkes Bay NZ. This is definitely more full bodied and less peppery than the Bullnose. Still an inner core of strength to the Langi which will see it last for another 5 + years. It’s fair to say the style of the Langi has changed over the past 20 years but it remains an Icon. — 2 years ago

Very good. Berry, anise, almond, red fruit. — 4 years ago
Jammy, light but still has depth — 5 years ago
God I love aged California zin! BlackBerry, smoke and black pepper leap from the glass. Silky smooth and round in the mouth, the wine has transcended any rough notes or tannin. Incredible lightness belies any noticeable acid or ABV. These guys always get it right. A true American icon! — 7 years ago

Such a flavorful and rich Cabernet Sauvignon. Reminds me of a Bordeaux. — 14 days ago
