It’s no wonder Gewurztraminer is one of the four noble grape varieties in Alsace, France. 👏👏👏 It’s uniquely expressive, perfumed, rich, and oily with youthful and pronounced aromas 👃 of lychee, açaí, papaya, mango, pineapple, also sweet spices of cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and rose, stargazer lily, elderflower, and wet stone. 🤩🤩🤩
👁 This wine is deep gold. 👄 It’s dry with a modicum of residual sugar. It has medium acidity, a medium(+) body, medium alcohol, and pronounced flavors, consistent with the nose, including notes of lychee, açaí, papaya, mango, pineapple, also sweet spices of cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, and rose, stargazer lily, elderflower, and wet stone. The finish is medium(+).
We’ve paired this wine with grilled vegan brats and roasted zucchini.
Albert Boxler, Gewurztraminer, Vintage 2018, ABV 13.5% (on the cusp of high alcohol).
Cheers to it almost being the weekend(?)! — 14 days ago
This is so pretty and drinkable. Dry and delicately perfumed.
A blend of “4 Noble grapes” (Riesling, pinot Gris, gewurz and muscat). Soft orchard fruit, floral notes of blossom and not overbearingly spicy. It’s springtime! 💃🕺🏼🐥🌼🍑🍇🍐🍎🍋🥗💕
Great with my daughters’ chicken/mango salad.

Medium gold in color, the honeyed nose shows apricot, minerally/earthy “petrol” notes, and almost a Semillon-like lanolin note. Rich in the mouth and off-dry (like a German Feinherb), it’s got deep fruit and earth flavors and is quite full-bodied (14%), with a little alcohol showing at the tail end of the finish. Not a delicate-styled Riesling by any stretch. It’s the kind of Riesling that will go better with white meats than anything from river or sea. — 16 days ago
This was advertised as pretty much a Grand Cru Riesling and my expectations were high. Had this yesterday and was a bit disappointed, but today some of the apparent acidity dissipated and allows some of the typical underlying Alsatian Riesling notes to come through. In the $30s I paid for this it is a good but not a spectacular QPR. List price? Not worth it. Much better Alsatian Rieslings out there — 10 days ago
