Graciously gifted to Holly and I by Pierre and Mathilde Demets. Popped and enjoyed directly from the bottle, on the streets of Paris, in celebration of our 20th wedding anniversary. “Intransigeance” is a fabulous cuvée made from a combination of selected fruit from both “La Forêt” in Gŷe-sur-Seine and “Fins” in Neuville-sur-Seine; 67% Pinot Noir and 33% Chardonnay. No formal notes due to the setting but I can confidently state that the 2018 vintage is utterly delicious. We laughed and reveled as we took pulls under the Eiffel Tower and walked to lunch through the 7th and 6th. We had a blast. Disgorged July 6, 2023. Only 7306 bottles made. Nose has a pleasant hint of oxidation. Some white flowers.

Palate is moderately rich. Some oxidation. As it opens some lovely caramel hints. Delicious.

Good change of pace. Interesting flavor profile.

A blend of 45% Pinot Meunier and the rest split between Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. This wine has zero grams of residual sugar and you can’t get a champagne any drier than this one. Nice fruity nose with flavors of stone fruits, lively acidity, crisp yet rich. Lingering finish with intense mineral ending. Let this age, it just gets better. Tasting Sample. — 4 years ago

Made from Macabeu, Xarel·lo and Parellada grapes, bright pale gold color with a frothy creamy mousse, small rapid bubble flow with a steady stream. Aromas and flavors of apple and citrus with toasty notes, integrated, nice mouthfeel, elegant long finish. Great value as an exceptional alternative to French Champagne. — a year ago
