Nose has oxidized yellow apple, pineapple core, peach pit, lemon zest and older, wet oak.
Palate has day old pineapple slice, dried lemon peel, creamy butter, green banana peel, zingy acidity with nice sandstone-like minerals on the medium-long finish.
Seems quite advanced for a 2016 vintage, a nose and (sort of) palate of a wine 6+ years its senior. Our only bottle, likely we could get another, but at ~$50 it's not worth it to us. I did decant for about 90m, based on experience with other 2016 S-A wines, not sure if this was enough time for this bottle, but it is showing improvement with glass time.
At hour 3+ the semi-ripe, tropical fruits are finally making an entrance 👍 — 6 days ago
Christmas cake, cherries, blueberries and cassis. Nice structure and acidity to balance the berry sweetness. Lovely for a winter's day! — 9 days ago
Lovely fruit on the nose controlled fruit and sharp minerality on the palate. Some green apple skin. Super well made. Rocky finish. Very good.
As this opens just wonderfully rich like very good champagne can be. Really persistent. Zingy acids balance it out. — 15 days ago
My 800th wine on Delectable! What a grand Rose! This was a nice organ color, pretty mousse. Bright and alive with orange peel and candies fruit, some apricot and of course subtle berries. Palette was refined and precise. A beautifully woven acidity ties the wine together. The palette has more of the orange feel coming through, candied and burnt, with other lemon notes breaking through. Finishes long. Absolutely lovely. — 14 days ago
The 2012 Extra-Brut Oenophile is one of the more austere, clenched wines I have tasted in this generally radiant vintage. Bright and punchy, with tremendous energy, the 2012 makes its case more on persistence and energy than with volume. A range of floral, citrus and mineral notes build as this wiry, taut Champagne develops in the glass. This is an especially reticent style, and yet there is so much to like. Disgorged: April 18, 2018. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, December 2019)

Cherry, hay, a bit of leather, some salty thing lingering in the back. This is young and fresh. The palate is very young too with a very strong acid backbone, some bright cherry on the side, a good grip and some nice layer on the sides like a comfy cushion. Some tannins before a very nice, rather long cherry finish with a pinch of salt. It's quite simple, very young but already enjoyable. — 14 hours ago
Lots of fruit but also the searing acid that you find in all the Bérêche wines. Complex. — 5 days ago
