Brut Rosé Champagne 2009

Such a special Champagne, one of my favorites among rosés.

I try to remember every vintage I taste. They’re always exceptional: strawberry skin, brioche, beautifully structured with a fine mousse, layered and precise.

Tonight, there’s a new note I just picked up, blood orange, and I’m completely into it.

P2 Brut Champagne Blend 2006

#AgedWineTuesday

Pretty color of light salmon.

Nose of strawberries, light raspberries, limes, green apples, light yeast, minerals and spices.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and small bubbles.

Dry on the palate with strawberries, tart cherries, lemons, green apples, grapefruits, bitter herbs, spices, light earth, yeast, sea salt, light brioche and minerals.

This 17 year old Rosé Champagne is always delicious. Rich and plentiful. Nicely balanced and elegant.

Will continue to drink nicely in the next 7 years.

Easy drinking, complex and interesting. Crisp and refreshing.

Wine Spectator 97 points.

Needs 30 minutes of airtime to open up properly. Good by itself as a sipping wine, or with food.

A blend of 55% Pinot Noir and 45% Chardonnay.

12.5% alcohol by volume.

92 points.

$450.
