Had this Margaret River icon on Christmas Eve with a nice grass fed Rib Fillet. A dusty blackberry nose. Not as herbal as the usual Moss Wood Cabernet. Full bodied from a good year with a long long future. Huon Hooke says to 2040. More reminiscent of a Cabernet from the eastern states in flavour profile. My first of 6. Should have the next in 4 or 5 years. — a month ago
Vintage 2010 | from Aglianico grapes. Lots of character, complex but stubborn as well. Barnyard smell, liquorice and steamed red summerfruit. Tannins. It is an interesting wine, for sure, and gains some friendliness with aeration. But it does not get me. Aged in old wood, I guess. | Paired with rib eye on day 1 and an onionpie on day 2. — a day ago

I have opened several bottles over the years, but now the wine starts to give. Nice refined buttery nose. Some of the once firm minerals toned down. So the wine in now much more lucious, almost volluptious. Very modest wood. Alimond bitters. Fresh enough to match the richness of salmon and lobster. — 3 days ago
