$30 grape creek Fredericksburg
Light- not too sweet. Our charming 2023 Riesling is a brilliant pale straw in hue with a tiny hint of chartreuse. By far our driest Riesling yet with only about 1% residual sugar, the ABV is a late-afternoon friendly 11.4%.
Engaging floral aromas of honeysuckle, white rose petal, gardenia, and citrus blossom are in lovely harmony with nectarine, honey dew melon, and kiwi. The palate is well-balanced, crisp and clean, and finishes with a refreshing, brisk acidity. There is a subtle touch of minerality that should develop nicely with a year or so of bottle age. — 10 months ago
2014 vintage. Decanted and tasted multiple times at multiple temps from 30 mins open-3 hrs open and 45-60 degrees. Color somewhere between golden and Chartreuse yellow. Plenty of ripeness with remaining acidity crawling along the palate baseline. Do not see this improving but surmise it can hold steady at this mature Burgundy status for another 3-4 years. 02.22.25. — 7 months ago
2014 vintage. Decanted and tasted 30 mins and an hour post-decant. Yellow Chartreuse color. Beautiful vanilla/cinnamon Jeffrey pine at dawn nose. That flowed over into the flavors along with substantial mineral components. Showing great. Very enjoyable. 1.12.24. — 2 years ago
NV. Color an impossibly light emerald green. A high, airy nose that flirtatiously disregards the soft tissue of the sinuses and impresses the cranial cavity. Possessing more finesse than should be possible on this earthly planet. The standard green Chartreuse is my fave liqueur but this enters a different dimension. Easily the best liquid or solid I’ve tasted in 2025. 05.05.25 — 5 months ago
Really powerful, cherry, grilled apricot and stewed plum, earth, tar, gun metal, savory, very herbaceous and floral (reminiscent of green chartreuse). A bit tight but discovering new flavors as it opens up. Nice grip, hot, lifted, fantastic finish. Should improve with time. — 4 years ago
