Complex, buttery with tangerine and mineral overtones. — 2 months ago
Dry and fruity. Palate starts with bread/brioche/toast and then a hit of acid on the tongue. Got a nice toasty finish. Was great with mushroom soup. — 3 months ago
91-92. Blanc de Noirs NV is aged and vinified: 33% in 205-liter Champagne oak barrels, 33% in 34 hl oak tuns and 34% of reserve wine from a period of 40 different years aged and vinified in oak tuns.“
First beautiful early evening of the year to be on friends deck.
Thick, creamy body. Grapefruit, lemons chiffon, lime zest, Bartlett pear, pineapple juice, lighter tropical melons, toasted nuts, gritty chalkiness, alluvial limestone, volcanics, yeasty, brioche, white spice, yellow followers/lillies, touch of spring flowers, excellent round acidity with a balanced, nice strutured and rich, polished finish that lasts a minute. — 2 months ago
Beautiful way to start our celebration for Tiva’s birthday! — a month ago
I’m at 92-93 here, but this is absolutely going to improve. I should have bought more than just a couple!
Paul Dethune champagnes are quickly becoming a favorite of mine. This cuvée is 50/50 (Pinot noir/chard), with 30% coming from their Solera dating back to the 70s.
I’ve said that I feel Petit & Bajan are the equivalent of Bollinger Special Cuvée in grower form, but I stand corrected. THIS is Bolly SC with a grower champagne vibe. Gold in the glass. Aromatics of lemon cream, lemon croissant, golden raspberries, and honeycomb. On the palate, it has the toasted Bolly profile but it’s dialed back a touch…feels more focused. Less expansive, but there’s added power here. Beautifully balanced with the sweet (the fruit, not the dosage) and savory (honey roasted cashews, sea salt). Imagine Bolly SC and a CHeidsieck Blanc de Blanc…you’ve got this. Loved it. — 2 months ago

These are the perfect Birthday bubbles!
They’re brought to us by one of our favorite “grower” producers – Paul Bara – situated in Bouzy, a grand cru village in the Montagne de Reims ⛰️ region of Champagne.
Paul Bara owns the entire production process from beginning to end, carrying forward seven generations of family history and tradition, with winemaker Chantal Bara now at the helm.
This is the 2016 Paul Bara vintage special club rosé. It was made with mostly Pinot Noir (70%) along with some Chardonnay (30%) for brightness.
It is pale salmon 👁️ with medium(+) intensity of lemon peel, mandarin pith, white peach, green apple, raspberry, strawberry, toast, pastry, and blanched almond 👃🏻 👄 . The mousse is fine-beaded and well-integrated. It is dry with a creamy mouthfeel and elegant finish.
It’s positively delicious!
