Château Julien (haut Médoc)

Château La Lagune

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 1989

Christmas Day. Another wonderful experience with 1989 Bordeaux, this time La Lagune from the Haut-Médoc, a wine that is particularly ageworthy and on this occasion absolutely singing. Fresh, sappy fruit and youthful vigour on the palate, this was a clean, pristine bottle and utterly drinkable – it just about lasted throughout dinner. — 6 days ago

Château Léoville Barton

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2016

My second time trying the 2016 vintage. I’ll hang on to my remaining bottles as it’s only getting better. — 3 days ago

Château Aney

Haut-Médoc Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2015

Really quite good. Drinks well above its price. Fragrant nose. Medium body. Classic. — 2 days ago

Château Beychevelle

Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2006

Still earthy on the nose and deep red-purple visually. After a short but vigorous decanting the tannic structure persisted to support dark fruit flavors on the palette. This wine still has many years of cellaring possible! — 11 days ago

Château Sociando-Mallet

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2011

My go to Bordeaux classic. Small black fruits, tobacco, cigar boxes and the ever present stubborn dusty bitter note. — a day ago

Château Léoville-Las Cases

Grand Vin de Leoville du Marquis de las Cases Saint-Julien Red Bordeaux Blend 2009

Tight as a drum at open. Loosened to trampoline tension after 2 hours. Finally was loose after 4. Spicy and hefty. More inward. A sophisticated mix and quite good but as with most Leoville Las Cases it needs to sit longer for the next iteration. — 10 days ago

Ironically, I just enjoyed a bottle of this in London and fully agree with your assessment. I am looking forward adding to my cellar. I have ‘82, ‘89, ‘01, ‘05, and ‘16 and it’s obvious that ‘09 needs to be in the mix. Only a couple of years for this juice to step to the next level and maybe
even before ‘05 . Nice find

Château Cantemerle

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

Start out incredibly rich and concentrated, and with tongue coating tans, but after a couple of hours really opened up to show some delicate fruit and savory flavors. The nose also started out incredibly intense and a little jammy, but cleared with time to become something much more delicate and lovely with flowers and cold fruits and Deliciousness. — 2 days ago

Château Haut-Batailley

Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon - Merlot Blend 2004

Shared by our host. Great wine in a lesser vintage. Nose of tar, black currant, cedar, cigar box. It's aged, but it's still kicking. The palate shows some acid drive, some width, some nice red and black berry notes, some really dusty tannins that are drying in the rear and a very long finish with a savoury thing in the rear. Great tasting experience. Thank you, Nicolas ! — 6 days ago
