Castello di Ama

Purple Rose 2018

Delectable Wine

Ama’s 2018 Purple Rose is a saignée of Sangiovese fermented partly in a combination of steel and oak (30%). Rich and textured, with lovely depth, the 2018 is silky, perfumed and light on its feet. It has more than enough complexity and depth to drink well with a wide range of foods. $22.00 (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, July 2019) — 8 days ago

Castello Bonomi

Cru Perdu Brut Franciacorta

One of those wines that’s hard to describe because it does only what it's supposed to do. Sound fundamentals of 70% Chardonnay, 30% Pinot. Like a good slice of NY cheese pizza. Just delicious and just that. Lemons, white flowers, sour dough. — 24 days ago

Napa Valley Vermentino 2013

2013 cab from the Castello de Amorosa! Thank you Donn for the recommendations! This is a great cab! Raspberry blackberry and Black licorice dominate the palate. No spice, no butter , but yet silky smooth. Mild oak on the finish very dry. Now I need a big steak! — 7 days ago

Castello della Sala Muffato Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2013

Beautiful dessert wine. Not overly sweet. Notes of floral honey and hay. Hint of apricot. Oxidized but not over the top. Almost “Sherry-like.” Nutty but subtle. Muffa nobile grapes (botrytis - thus, the wine’s name) of four different white varietals were used. Outstanding! Thank you, Paul Wilson, the great Sommelier at GG’s for allowing me to taste this one. — 5 days ago

Maru Salento Negroamaro 2017

Very good and flavorful but not overpowering red wine to enjoy with a nice meal, we had it with meat ravioli and loved it. Also great to just enjoy alone — 17 days ago

Castello Tricerchi

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2013

Light ruby with some brick hue and a viscous swirl; earthy nose, spices like thyme and sage; more complex taste with finer tannins, darker fruit, and longer finish than the Pieve. Around 12.000 bottles produced; large botti used. — 5 days ago
