Castello Del Poggio

Castello di Monsanto

Riserva Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend 2019

Well structured classic Sangiovese exhibiting dark, ripening fruit with plenty of soft spice and underlying soft tannin. This is a luscious wine from Laura Bianchi. Drink it now or wait a couple of years for more ripe dark fruit. — 3 days ago

Rabajà Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2019

Very nice. Garnet color, slight preserved fruit nose. Bright, soft. Tannins and acids balanced but present, definitely possible for aging. — 20 days ago

Poggio al Casone

Casone Toscana Sangiovese Blend 2017

Fairly well balanced, light for a Tuscan but sufficiently flavorful. Better on the 2nd and 3rd nights if well capped. Simple evening dinner-wine with a comfortable 13% alc. Definitely a good value from TJ. — 12 days ago

Castello dei Rampolla

Sammarco Toscana SuperTuscan Blend 2016

Rich with some sweetness. Very good. Price about ¥12,000. — 2 months ago

Castello di Amorosa

Il Barone Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Classic Napa cab. Constrained fruit, mellow tannins, good structure. Beautiful cassis notes. This bottle was a gift. After looking up the prices I was pretty shocked. Totally not worth North of $150. — 3 days ago

Castello di Verduno

Basadone Verduno Pelaverga 2022

This is a wine from the Pelaverga grape, which I learned was almost extinct decades ago. Reminiscent of Pinot noir with bold contrasts of strawberries and floral notes and an edge of acid and bitters. Level and elegant and also easy to drink. — 24 days ago
