This was really drinking well, open with silky tannins showing lots of floral & spice with notes of ripe cherry, berry with leather, mint, rose petal, licorice, balsamic, spice & tobacco. I always load up on this wine when Monfortino is not made in the vintage. — 16 days ago
Killer nose and killer color. Gorgeous nose, spice, orange rind, roses, so precise and linear. Cherry flower, licorice. Like a Seurat painting. So detailed and complex. Precise and perfumed. Palate is fresh and incredibly energetic. Gorgeous. Wow. What freshness and energy. So clean. Big medium cherry fruit and unreal precision. Really well made. Palate has a lovely bit of opulence. Awesome tannins and length. This is such high level winemaking. This is like almost Germanic in its precision. Great inner mouth aromas. Really elegant. This is great. 9.3 for now, but I see this going to 9.4 with air. — a month ago
Light, bright, and earthy. Very close to the Alea viva, but best drunken in one go as it seemed to turn too acidic the next night. And the Heisenberg-esque label helps. — 4 days ago
Tremendous color. Looks like Chateau Simone rose. Watermelon, strawberry, spice, a lipstick like intensity, spice, earth, florals and mineral. Deep cherry. Cherry lozenge. Floral. Citrus and Tree bark after some air. A gorgeous nose. Palate is ripe, juicy, full of tannins and structure. Terrific acids, man is this zingy and fresh and even has some citric zest to it. Tannins build up on the finish. Very serious Langhe Nebbiolo. — a month ago
Fizzy and light and sweet. Great for summer served chilled — a month ago
Piemonte tasting #4
After 10h decanting this finally shows... wilted flower petals, mushroom soup, light cherries. Beautiful mouthfeel with the typical tannic grip yet with the beautiful flow and juicy, acidic drinkability.
Barolo is just hard to beat! — 23 days ago
The top wine at Sòt. Darkest color of all the wines so far but still very light in the grand scheme of things. Nose is fascinating with big boy sour cherries. So sappy and pure aromas with a wild herbal, mineral, feral side as well. Perfumed and elite but wild. Love it. Leather, tar, roses, tea. Wow what a palate. So refined and elegant. Super super elegant. It just floats. This is incredible. Nose led me to believe one thing but palate has me believing another thing. Really concentrated and just bonkers complexity and that insane Sòt freshness and transparency. Superb, actually elite structure. Really deep. A beautiful wine that has substantial tannins as it airs but deep fruit and just incredible minerality. So long and a taste of precise cherries and rocks on the palate. Nose opens up more with an insane penetrating perfume. Less wild, more of a crushed rock, mineral perfume. Again, that tiny hit of 16 opulence. This has linearity and energy for days. So pure. Young but man this is the bomb. So so promising. — a month ago
Lovely purity of berry compote along with an underlying ferrous, rusty nail type iron mineral character. With time in the glass there’s also some very attractive almond paste or pie crust notes, dried cranberry and yoghurt covered raisins.
In the mouth it’s incredibly approachable with fine grained tannins that are very well interpreted into the red currant and cranberry fruit. It’s refreshing, approachable and very food friendly as the acidity seems to be perfectly ripe in this vintage. Don’t think I’ve tasted a better vintage of this in the past 5 years or so. As with most Italians, food will elevate this. 👌🏽 — a month ago
