After being disappointed last week by another questionable Monfortino I decided to open a different wine from the same producer - a Conterno Francia 2005. But this one purchased from my local wine shop. It was as outstanding as always. Strong on the nose from the first pour. Heady earthy aromatics. Beautiful in the glass clear on edge with orange ring. The wine grips nicely on the sides. Cherry bursting through and the finish lingers ever so tantalizingly long. Sampled with some Italian truffle cheese - it made for a nice Sunday afternoon! — 2 months ago
Medium to deep Ruby with aromas of fruit, spices, leather, and chocolate, rich and robust wine from a hot vintage, aged in oak for 36 months. On the palate flavors of cherry and ripe raspberry with notes of pepper, spice and earthy cacao. Long finish, nice balance with fine tannins ending with earthy spice notes. Nice! — 6 days ago

From Ops, very Ops esque sweet but balanced with acid and fruit — 3 months ago
Cherry cobbler, floral perfume, with the slightest tar undertones. Cherries, tart raspberry, rose pedal, tobacco, and mushroom jump out on the palate, which is much more lively than the nose. Excellent length with chalky red fruits lingering. Modern style. Single vineyard from La Morra cru. Drink or hold. — 7 days ago
— 12 days ago

Another great vintage for Francia especially when their Monfortino is not produced where all goes into the Francia — 14 days ago
