From magnum. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of several hours. The 2015 Riserva “Montestefano” pours a bright garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with powerful notes of ripe red and dark fruits: Morello cherry, raspberry, pomegranate, roses, tar, tobacco, and dry earth. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. This was such a fun ride as the hours rolled by and while it is really delicious now, there is a long future yet ahead. Drink now through 2040. Bottle No. 1303/1982. — 2 months ago
I think Produttori’s langhe is one of all time best values every year and this is no exception. This has great red and a smidge of purple fruit. Tannins are quite present but with a bit of air they fall into balance (though this could certainly take time). Excellent pairing with a simple but high quality pork chop. Very nice acid on the finish. Really enjoyable. — 2 months ago

It’s been almost 8 years since I last enjoyed the 2011 Asili and I’m happy to report that it’s still a stunner. Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two hours. The wine pours a garnet color with a transparent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with powerful notes of ripe and tart red fruits: raspberries, strawberry, pomegranate, roses, tar, talcum powder, dried green herbs and dry earth. On the palate, the wine is one dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. This is gorgeous and it’s no wonder I thought so highly of it back in 2017. While this is firing on all cylinders right now, the future remains bright. Drink now through 2041+. Outstanding alpine nebbiolo from the Carema co-op, a gorgeous wine value for any Piedmont or nebbiolo fan. Elegant, typical of Carema, with the classic notes of cherry, currants, tar and roses. Supple structure, med body, med/med+ acids and tannin, med+ flavor intensity and finish. — 2 months ago

Ambrosial bouquet with expressive notes of dried cherry, wild strawberry sauce, kirsch, mulberry, blueberry compote, violet, black tea, potpourri, black licorice, star anise, clove, vanilla, crushed stone, leather, and forest floor.
Highly structured, with broad shoulders, on the palate. It’s delicious now, even as a baby, with runway to age, soften, & gain additional dimension. 😍 — 10 days ago
