A winemaker whom I first discovered at the one and only Au Bon Manger in Reims during a trip to Champagne, one to watch, Aurelien Lurquin. Unsurprisingly, his wines have all but disappeared in states. While my favorite cuvée will likely always be his 100% Meunier, Crayeres du Levant, 100% Pinot Noir Les Forcières is a gorgeous BdN. It’s powerful, rich and mineral with super floral aromatics and a stunningly luxurious texture. A beautiful young Champagne that there will simply never be enough of! — 2 years ago

The new “Esperluette” cuvée. In the words of Jérôme Prévost, “For this cuvée, we are still 100% Pinot Meunier, always 100% from the terroir of Gueux. 20% reserve wine 2017 completed with 80% wine from harvest 2018, 20% of which is from Béguines. We work some of these vines ourselves, in the same spirit and with the same touch as in Les Béguines.”
My first time tasting this cuvée. There is such singularity to his wines and really I don’t think anyone can match what Prevost is doing with 100% Pinot Meunier. Although, I definitely want to try Aurelien Lurquin. As with the Béguines, it’s so terroir expressive, supported by bruised stone fruit, baking spices and riveting energy and tension. It needs a great deal of air to really show its stuff and then it is truly oh so giving. — 3 years ago
Medium ruby , wide pink rim . Touch of wood spice then strawberry compote , raspberry and red cherry . On the palate the ripe red fruits present on the nose , with good balance and balanced acidity . Rounded tannins , balanced alcohol . Very juicy, a crowd pleaser really , also young still , more complexity may come with time. Better in 3-5 years and will last well a further 10. — 7 months ago
This was easily 9.3 or 9.4 on day 2. I just didn’t leave enough to give a true assessment….Thanks @Lyle Fass for a great St. Joseph! — 2 years ago

Beautiful color. Fresh, bright, juicy with nice acid. Red berries, flower petals, mulberry, little bit of forest floor and crushed rocks. Always had a good bottle from this producer. — a month ago
