Best Chardonnay I’ve had though I’m not normally a fan. Argentina — 2 months ago

Domaine Belluard

Terroir du Mont-Blanc Mondeuse 2014

Still lots of exuberant red and purple fruit, white pepper, woodsy tones, violets, some animal and herbaceous highlights. Continue to love following this wine as it ages. Structurally seems in a great place, not sure how much it will improve — 10 months ago

Granit 60 Vieilles Vignes Cornas Syrah 2014

Ruby colour of beautiful intensity. Peppery nose, fresh red and black fruits, animal notes, bacon, and smoked. A racy, straight Cornas. Velvety mouth texture. Syrah as we like it. 2014 a vintage a priori not obvious, which will have ended up finding its balance in its ninth year.

Opened and decanted about an hour before dinner. No formal notes. The 2007 B. Levet "La Chavaroche" is flat out beautiful right now. The aromatics are off the charts with gorgeous, ripe dark fruits, a bit of the animal, a veritable hillside of lavender, black olives, some deli case, black pepper, some leather and earth. The structure is still firm but everything is well integrated at this point; superbly balanced; great acid. The finish is long and has some ferrous minerals that I simply love. A sublime pairing with a Morgan Ranch Wagyu tenderloin served with corn purée, charred broccolini and juniper ash. The 2007's are absolutely ready to drink now with a short decant (mostly to remove any sediment) however, they will continue to drink well for another 10+ easy from good cellars.

That’s a lot of detailed good info for “no formal notes.” Setting the bar very high!

@Tom Casagrande 😅, I guess I should define formal. For me, it’s defined by taking the wine “through the grid” and most social settings are inappropriate for that

Clos de Gat

Har'El Syrah 2016

SyrahSession#2Wine#4
Garnet-tiled, murky, deep dress.Clos de Gat is an area of Judea in Israel. With two hours of aeration, the primary notes, generous very ripe and animal fruits mix well with the notes of aging and spices. We are not far from a Cornas or other wine from the North Rhône with the intensity of the Israeli sun. The notes of evolution go perfectly with the bouquet.

Domaine Auguste Clape

Cornas Syrah 1990

Slight leak and thus mid-shoulder fill, purchased on release at KLWM, smells and tastes like classic Cornas, bacon/wild animal notes, pure redfruits, soft tannins, lovely acidity, I have to admit being a Verset >> Clape guy generally, but this is lovely, long finish!! — 6 months ago

Le Clos de Lys Morgon Gamay 2012

Berry jam, spice and rose petals on the nose, bit of something animal. On the palate the bright carbonic fruit still popping, with a beautiful floral and bitter stem finish that would accompany a lot of different food pairing options — 2 years ago

Les Chailles Cornas Syrah 2018

SyrahTastingDay#6
Dark, fleshy, deep and animal. Fresh red fruits and already almost in place, but obviously too young. Big aging potential to taste in 5 years. Potential 9,5.

Noir, charnu, profond et animal. Fruits rouges frais et déjà presque en place, mais encore évidemment trop jeune. Gros potentiel de garde à goûter dans 5 ans. Potentiel 4,5
