Impressive to see an entry level Riesling develop into a wine with serious depth and intensity. Zingy citrus nose with clear notes of petroleum and (over)ripe papaya. On the palate again ripe citrus fruits, lime, lemon and maybe some grapefruit. Some bitters. Petrol is there again and accompanies the wine to a mineral streak aligned with the focused Riesling acidity. Finish is pretty long. — 6 months ago
On the fruitier side of LdH (darker in colour, too), with some dried cherry, dried cranberries, a touch of orange peel & orange bitters with the typical leather, wood polish, cigar box next. Some decent dark earthy notes, too. Needs a bit of time to open up.
On the palate this is poised, elegantly balanced, in a perfect spot. Medium body, vibrant acidity, the tannins finely grained & mellowing. Savoury fruit + a touch of spice & a hint of orange peel towards the finish.
A lovely wine! — 5 years ago
The 18 is DRC quality a unicorn there is no other Pinot like it right now. It takes hour/days to reveal its layers and power. @40 min: Tannins soft and super well managed no rough edges here a hint of mint, faint touch of black tea bitters, herbaceous @ 15h: More round no oxidative disturbances.
Dark cherry, tart and closed. Finally @7days under Argon: Black Forest meadow, tannins resolved, glorious fruit, long. Dark black heirloom black forest cherries. The 18 E & M Muschelkalk beats out at Pinot I had in the last years . “I wish you where here”. — 6 years ago

Vintage 1989 | for me an obscure domaine, it caught my attention at an auction. I do love ripened Chenin Blanc, which sometimes seems immortal. So I thought: give it a try. The wine was sent from France. Lovely ripened colour, old gold. Shy smell, good taste that combines honey and bitters. The cuvée is ‘moelleux’ but very good balance with the acids. Paired good with rilettes and pheasant pâté. — a year ago
Jammy at the start. Then more complex with dark berries, orange, followed by bitters, pepper. — 5 years ago
Proof that roero arneis does keep. No reason to fast finish in 2 years. Nice fruits in the nose: Peach and apricot. Some ripening butter tones. All is also on the pallet, in combinatie with some citrusfruits and lots of nice hazelnut bitters. All the more reason to store them at the back of the cellar. — 6 years ago
Looks like peach nectar, with the lightest, looping bubbles in a loose bunch atop, becomes a petri sample of fruit fungus, then all clear to firework lacing and morning mist. Big wood notes, though not as toasty in parts, cigar box, funky softwood of dead forest fall, ripe for mushrooms. Lovely dried lemon peel, orange peel, and dried apricot in cigar boxes, live pineapple and pencil shavings in a clean attic. On the palate, yellow cherry, funky sour pineapple, lime-cedar, lemongrass, savory, dried okra, a drop of orange bitters, nose filling blood orange, and lemon oil for the duration. Fantastic nuances, amazing balance, woody depth. Just fine craftsmanship here, from the old school. — 7 years ago
Vintage 2015 / wine from #umbria central #italy with the unusual blend of #sangiovese #sagrantino and #merlot (on barrel). It was quite harsh in bitters/aftertaste immediately after opening, tannins also. But when it had aeration the wine softened and even shows frivolousness 🙃 Beautiful strawberries in smell, smooth taste. I liked this transformation. Awesome PRQ. I presume it will even gets better within a few years. — 7 years ago
Liquorice, shoe polish, black cherry, ripe, dark fruit, tannins are fresh with citrus acid and bitters, clean and in the prime of its life. Rich, wide, balanced and deliciously a point. — 6 months ago
Vintage 2020 | First day of spring. Intanticide perhaps, but jolly good now. Palle yellow. Smell with pear and Guadeloupe melon. Schist. Powerfull balanced taste with high bitters and blood orange zeste. Lovely wine, says the wife. Happy wife, happy life! Paired with chicocery with ham and vacherin mont d’or cheese from the oven and topped with spring onion and truffle. Find it and put some bottles in your cellar. — a year ago
Flower-scented watermelon rind, unripe strawberry, bitters, weak tea, medicine, and honey-mustard? Mustard! What the what?!? Yes. Snyder’s honey mustard pretzel flavor. Beyond. — 6 years ago
Superb blend of Nebbiolo and Barbera, this exuberant wine has a powerful nose of cherries, rose, plum, and sleek oak that continues into a vibrant palate full of sour cherry, leather, olives, blackcurrant, raisins, earthiness, cedar, and bitters, with fine integrated tannins and a long finish. Lovely with Muscovy duck and braised red cabbage! — 7 years ago
