Yarra Valley Heathcote Shiraz Viognier Blend 2019

Lots of black fruits, plus vanilla, dark chocolate, and mesquite smoke. Ripe, rich, round, and concentrated, but amazingly still fresh. Delicious for $20 on Wine Spies. Cheers! — 3 days ago

Mount Mary

Quintet Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2003

Part of my brothers 60th birthday present direct from the Mount Mary cellars. Amazing. So delicate with an endless complex palate. — 2 months ago

Yarra Yering

Dry Red Wine No°2 Shiraz Blend 2004

Lighter than I expected but not disappointed with layers of exotic spice and fruit. Very reminiscent of an aged Cote Rotie. — 3 months ago

Oakridge

Single Block Release 864 Drive Block Funder & Diamond Vineyard Chardonnay 2011

Last bottle of this very impressive Chardonnay. Still very flinty and burnt match on the nose with a slightly sweeter palate than the last note. That grapefruit in its youth is now more yellow peach. Technical notes - using the P58 clone. All grapes were hand harvested prior to whole bunch pressing to French Oak puncheons - 30% new oak. Malolactic conversion was prevented. Drinking at its peak - made by one of Australia’s leading exponents of Chardonnay In David Bicknell. This is world class! — 2 months ago

Giant Steps

Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2021

Bright cherry color in the glass. Notes of red berries, cherry and black tea. Floral throughout and brings a soft tannin finish. Undeniably a Pinot. — a month ago

Wantirna Estate

Lily Pinot Noir 2010

So pretty in its youth but now broody and powerful. Brambly with dark fruit and spice. Nice surprise! — a month ago

Yarra Valley Nebbiolo 2021

Lovely Aussi expression of this grape. Lively flavors and smooth in it’s transitions particularly for a wine so young. Closer to a Ghemme than a Barola. Earthy, Raspberry, rose petal, dried fruit, hazelnut. Very approachable young as it is not overly tannic or acidic. — 3 months ago
