Riesling from the Hengst grand cru in Wintzenheim, about 5 miles west of Colmar. Biodynamically farmed vineyards. Lean, precise, elegant with citrus, flowers and hints of rubber on the nose. On the palate there is some grapefruit. Powerful, dry, mineral. Nice saline aftertaste. — 3 days ago
Koenig Gewurztraminer 2017, Alsace, France
Light lemon in color with a golden hue.
Gorgeous nose of white flowers, lemons, honey, melons, yellow apples, tropical fruits, minerals, diesel, spices, white pepper, pineapples and light earth.
Full bodied and buttery, with medium plus acidity.
Off dry on the palate with citrus, red apples, melons, pears, minerals, light spices, light earth, tropical fruits and light herbs.
Medium plus on the finish with lemons.
This is a delicious Gewurztraminer from France. Showing nice complexity with a nice mouth feel.
Very nicely balanced with enough fruits for the acidity.
This 4 year old aged nicely so far, and would be nice to revisit it in 3 years, and see how it evolved.
Last year I had the 2018 vintage, and it is much nicer with some age.
Easy drinking and good by itself or with food. I had it all by itself by the pool.
Kosher and Mevushal.
13% alcohol by volume.

Whoa! Why did no one tell me about this one? The side project of Mathieu Deiss of the family behind Domaine Marcel Deiss. Beautiful pure copper color with pretty green flecks. One of the prettiest noses I’ve had in quite some time. Delicious honey and orange peel up front. The floral notes are ridiculously fun and exciting. Plenty of herbs and mango, as well.
All Pinot, all day here. 50% Pinot Blanc and 25% each of Pinot Noir and Pinot Gris. This is so unfamiliar to me but so welcoming and engrossing at the same time. Biodynamic Orange wine that really blows you away from the first sip. Distinctively Alsatian, there’s more than enough to love here. Fresh, lively acid with a kick of spice. The palate is expansive and round with a really nice amalgamation of pretty, rustic fruits. Medium long finish that honestly makes you want just one more glass. Don’t like Orange wine? Don’t like Biodynamic wine? Try this and correct yourself. — 11 days ago
Stunning shimmering golden color & classic Gewurz nose of lychee & rose hips, quince, some green garden funk, hint of spice, just a lovely nose - silky viscous luxurious texture on palate but a little tired & over the hill - drying out on finish. This is like a old champion boxer who still can move those hands & dance around the ring, but far from peak form. — 3 days ago
Riesling from the Breitenberg vineyard in Westhalten. Vines are about 35 years old and rooted in sandstone (buntsandstein) soils. Pale golden color. Delicate nose with aromas of citrus (lemon, lime), mineral, saline. Citrus on the palate (mostly lime). Zesty acidity. Long finish. Saline notes. Really refreshing — 3 days ago
