Love this stuff. Rich brown butter toasted almond with some petrol on the nose + meyer lemon, stone fruit, brine. Oatmeal! Layers of acidic stone fruit and sweet pears, nice minerality on top of a toasty creme brûlée. Long finish ugh so good. — 5 days ago
Birthday red for the birthday girl 🍷 all made possible by the people’s champ, @Ron R 🙌🏻 thanks for sending this our way, sir - it’s some seriously delicious juice. I gave it one smell and thought to myself, “This is a 94/100 wine.” Glad to see my initial (and final) assessment was on par with most of yours.
Intoxicating notes of mulled plums, blackberries and blueberries, all baked together with anise, melted Mexican chocolate, and dried vanilla bean. Beautiful, luscious mouthfeel with a velvety finish. This is a winner. — 8 days ago
Nose is screaming eagle mosel green apple out of the gate. Wow. Just leaps into the nose. Super ripe green apple. willi Schaefer levels of concentration. Interlaced minerality. Wow. Just that crunchy mosel minerals. Almost minerals made from petrified rips green apples they’re almost sweet. Gorgeous nose. Wow. As it averages it’s awesome. Almost a mineral green apple flower.
Palate is mind boggling. Extra extra extra levels of dense concentrated green apple. Some Grapefruit pith. Intensely mineral. Very very dense for a mosel wine. Sick concentration. Some candied grapefruit. Tremendous bright acidity. Wakes the palate. A little salty. Almost savory. Massive minerality. Almost painful like an explosion of rocks. Very delicious.
Long finish. Like you sucked on a delicious rock and it powdered in your mouth. Stunning. Terrific dense green apple in the finish. Almost mineral spice. — a month ago
Newish vintage, 600 cases produced. 94/6 blend of Grenache Blanc and Roussanne from three vineyards: Boushey (81% GB), Weather Eye (13% GB), Olsen (6% R). Pale yellow white, excellent clarity. Floral, vanilla and mild aldehydic barnyard aromas. Guava, lactic flavors, tropical fruit finish (banana then coconut? But this ain’t no Piña colada). Lingering cherry and heavy (skin and seed) tannic aftertaste . This is either serious experimental winemaking, or ultra craft-focused ‘blanc de noir’, or is this just their iteration of a pale “orange” wine? Massive tannins for a “white” wine. Not a wine for the faint of heart. Dry, just enough acidity, fruity but still pondering this one... The trop fruit flavors backed off, with cherry and other red fruit and Grenache character flavors emerging after 30-60 minutes. Tannins also softened somewhat, with patience — 5 days ago
Great Rioja! Well acidices w a lot o fruit. That cherry/raspberry/tomato fruit is great in this one. Moderate tannins. — 16 days ago
One of my favorite Austrian white wines. So light and refreshing! — 2 months ago
14’ d'Yquem "Y" 75% SB 25% Semillon.
Let this warm up & open up in the glass for a good 30+ minutes. Medium gold color. Yellow/green apple, apricot, white peach, pear, hint of honey. wrapped in light/medium acidity. Everything plays together beautifully. Wonderfully made wine.
Want to thank Ronnie for not just picking up this wine and throwing it into his wine cellar for the last year +. Just being an all-around great guy. Thanks again for everything. @Ron R . Wanted to give this a proper post from last nights dinner. — 7 days ago
Nose has oxidized pear slice, browning butter, toasted salt, candied pineapple, beeswax, toasted pistachio and dry crushed granite.
Palate has dried apricot, dried lemon peel, dehydrated green apple slices, toasted ginger, un-salted cashew, (minor) tangerine juice, (minor) vanilla oak notes, yet while showing zingy acidity and a never ending finish. Weighty and light on the palate, simultaneously.
Always one of our favorites in the RLdH lineup, the Blanco's will and can age for decades. This bottle should be close to the current release.
90% Viura / 10% Malvasía; Decanted 3 hours.
Amazing wine...I NEED to find the Gran Reserva, but need much more of this one!
A perfect wine to end cap a long weekend, Labor Day (US), or any weekend really! — 2 months ago
