Holy cow. Opened yesterday, notes from over 24 hrs open. So much better than my last btl: everything has fallen into place. On the nose: soft mushroomy funk, black cherry, wild strawberry, spice, soft leather. On the palate: fantastic acidity, wild strawberry, cinnamon spice, good density, very hi-toned, and soft, very finely-grained tannin on the finish. Yum. — 2 days ago
Here is my #FridayCabernetfix for this week.
Pretty color of dark ruby, with a cloudy reddish rim.
Fruity nose with blueberries, currants, cherries, light wood, honeysuckle, spices, pencil lead, earth, herbs, black pepper and dark coffee.
Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.
Dry on the palate with red currants, black plums, oak, tobacco, earth, spices, licorice, light vegetables, dark coffee, cloves, herbs and peppercorn.
Medium plus on the finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cranberries.
This is a nice Cabernet based Bordeaux blend from California. Showing a nice mouthfeel at this point, with mild complexity.
I had it last year, and this time I gave it a couple of hours in a decanter to open up.
Showing interesting notes of honeysuckle, which surprised me. This five year old is soft and engaging. Tangy and interesting.
Good by itself or with food. I paired it with salami, Brie cheese and crackers.
Aged for 29 months in French Oak barrels. A blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot and 2% Malbec.
13.8% alcohol by volume.

Pretty color, good on the nose. Drank with Matt in Mendocino after spending an evening trying to order food in the town. Talked about pregnancy. — 7 hours ago
