Pessac Léognan, Graves

Château Laville Haut-Brion

Pessac-Léognan Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend 2006

A light gold in colour. A very different nose. - a caramel liqueur note originally - I have a feeling the nose on this will change frequently over the next few hours. Flinty, white florals, an oxidative note. Very fresh on the palate for a 16 year old wine. 86% Semillon and 14% Sauvignon Blanc. Certainly a wine that benefits from and is made to cellar. Robert Parker gave this 98 points and said it should last 30 years in the cellar. I can’t see it myself as the lemon citric acid has diminished greatly at this point. Obviously this is White Bordeaux Royalty and very pleasing but not for the stupid price I paid. One of the 1001 Wines. The next night I noticed the viscosity on the palate and a honeysuckle note. Oak is integrated. Certainly an experience but dreadful QPR. — 4 days ago

L'Esprit de Chevalier Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

375ml. Dark red color. PnP. Needs age obviously. Medium plus depth. Dark cherries and menthol with medicinal elements. Expected more and wouldn’t guess French or Bordeaux if having blind. — 18 days ago

Château Haut-Bailly

Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 2006

Blackish purple robe, opulent nose of blackcurrant, tobacco, asian spices and a hint of violettes. Very elegant and somewhat tight tannins, medium bodied, long and complex. Drinking well now but oh has so much potential ! Great bottle of classic claret. — 24 days ago

Nose with dense dark rose and dark cherry. Palate with juicy acidity and well balanced approachable dark fruit, leather, some tobacco, and mouth tingling spice. Moderate long finish with a tough of grippy tannins at the end. Overall a unique and interesting Bordeaux. — 10 days ago
