Les Rouillères Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil Cabernet Franc 2018

The red wines I tasted when I was at the south of the Loire were very different (special) compared with "typical" French wines. The complexity is not defined by the body, but by its finesse in taste. You taste the fruit, but their sweetness is in balance with the acidity with makes them taste elegant. At least when its a well-made Bourgueil. I also taste a lot of bad ones over there. This one, recommended by my importer, is just excellent. 16€ is not cheap, but for this one, worth its money. — 3 months ago

Bourgogne Pinot Noir 2020

Nice wine for $20. Cherry fruit and some healthy tannins, but relatively light. Nice with turkey; would be good with a lot of foods — 18 days ago

Happy birthday Honey. 🥳🎂🎉 🌹

This is absolutely as exquisite as when we had it for Christina’s birthday March 1, 2023. The benefit tonight is time & attention to focus on it. Delicious.

Green apple, lime, lemon pineapple, stone fruits, slightly bruised golden apple and pear, leans into apple cider, cream, ginger ale, nuts w/ skin, very fine powdery chalkiness, limestone, saline, biscuit dough, sea fossils. Amazing body and acidity, fruit blossoms, jasmine, yellow florals and well; structured knitted, balanced, extremely well polished finish that lasts two-minutes. Drinking beautiful now & with time & life for 10 yrs or more. Love you Sofia.

Interesting and complicated. A varietal that we rarely approach. Tropical notes on the nose and palate. It displays effervescence on the mid palate, which I find distracting. But the pineapple notes draw you in. A very sweet finale left us thinking this was somewhat of a hybrid between Sauvignon Blanc and champagne. — 3 months ago

Joly’s wines are spectacular! Make sure you try Clos de la Bergerie and the top wine, Clos de la Coulée de Serrant, as well. The latter uses botrytized grapes and can take significant aging. I think it beats Burgundy for the “best white” title.

Hey Byron, thanks for the insights. 24hrs on, it's calmed down (effervescence) a bit so I'll lift the score an extra point :0)

Rouge-Gorge Coteaux Du Loir Pineau d'Aunis 2020

This is what all American “natural” winemakers should drink. So much tart red fruits, anise, tons of pepper, herbal liqueur like amaro, god tannin. Evolves with air. One of my favorite wines. — 15 days ago

Réserve Exclusive Brut Champagne

Traditional Champagne blend of Chardonnay (40%), Meunier (40%) and Pinot Noir (20%). Medium gold color. Aromas of pear and apricot. Palate is more dried fruit (green apple and quince) focused with hints of toasted nuts, honey and baking spices. Nice citrusy finish and creamy texture. Rich and elegant. Excellent starter. — 3 months ago
