Mont Gravet

South of France Rosé Cinsault 2020

More complicated than most roses I’ve had. Something herbal, thankfully not too sweet. Not sure how ashamed I should be in admitting I dropped an ice cube in this while enjoying a patio dinner on a warm Boulder evening. — a month ago

Au Pied du Mont Chauve

Montagny 1er Cru Chardonnay 2017

Bright beige yellow. Inviting nose of overripe red apple and and balsam. Medium full palate yields baked apple, dried white flowers, balsam, and a hint of white pepper back-palate to finish. I’m sensing a bit of oak on this, but in that classic unobtrusive French way. Lively medium plus acidity underneath it all makes for a fantastic white to accompany fish, poultry, shellfish, or medium cheeses. An imminently satisfying Premier Cru white at a great price. “The foot of Montrachet” continues to impress. Drink now through 2024. — 17 days ago

Domaine Huet

Le Mont Demi-Sec Vouvray Chenin Blanc 2007

Tonight it was time to open my 2007 Domaine Huet Le Mont Demi-Sec Vouvray.

On the nose there is peach, apricot, persimmon, baked apple, lime, honeydew melon, jasmine and brioche.

On the palate we have wonderful notes of peach, honeysuckle, honeycomb, ripe yellow apple, lime, ginger and minerals.

This wine is medium bodied with a viscous mouthcoating mouthfeel and with this age still has mouthwatering medium + acidity that moves smoothly into a medium+ to long peach lemon mineral finish. What a treat. I thought this may be past its prime but no it is still wonderful. Just goes to show you the Loire Chenin Blanc age gracefully. Happy hump day and enjoy the end of the week. Stay safe and continued health. Nostrovia! 🥂🥂🥂🥂

@Sharon B it is nice. At its age the acidity is still crisp, the tastes are evolving with age and complexity is good. Cheers to you too.

Château Mont-Joye

Cuvée Réservée Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend 1970

Despite the degraded label wine is in excellent shape! Deep amber color, not a whiff of sherry oxidative notes like the other 70s oldies. Very mature dried fruits floral profile with balanced palate and what a match for the Hungarian foie gra Wilson brought. Also paired really well with Costco duck dressed up like a Peking version! — 6 days ago

Terre d'Ombre Vin de Pays du Mont Caume Mourvedre Blend 2018

A young, fresh, & grippy declassified Bandol. Dark red hue misleading given its medium/ medium light body; Black Currants, nice tannic spine with that grippiness. What a perfect summer red. — 19 days ago

Love me some Bugey. Ancestral Method with a tiny bit of RS. Lots of ripe red berries, crisp and clean. — 18 days ago
