We recently had a 40 wine blind tasting at the Downs Club to select a new Premium Member’s Claret. This wine was in my Top 5 but in the end did not get the nod. Dark rich colour with plenty of ripe fruit and toasty oak but still manages to have notes of black pepper in this full bodied red. I liked this from an exceptional vintage in South Australia. — 17 days ago
Great wine for the price. $15 (6 pack). One of my favorites for this price range. High rating is bc of price/ taste combination. — a month ago
It's time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday.
Dark ruby in color with a wide reddish rim.
Nose of plums, cherries, currants, light wood, earth, licorice, spices, black pepper and light vegetables.
Full bodied, smooth and soft, with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry on the palate with black plums, cooked cherries, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, tobacco, dark chocolates, bitter herbs, light vegetables, earth and peppercorn.
Medium finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a very enjoyable Merlot from Livermore Valley in California. This Single Vineyard is nice and plush. Showing mild complexity with a soft, elegant mouthfeel.
Good right out of the bottle, but I gave it an hour to open up properly.
A nice wine to have by itself and better with food. Spicy, tangy and interesting.
I paired it with meats and cheeses. Paired very nicely with brie cheese.
100% Merlot grapes from a low yielding single Vineyard. Aged for 20 months in French Oak barrels. A small production of only 138 cases.
14% alcohol by volume.
