An absolutely wonderful St Joseph. Decanted 8+ hours which I’d recommend at this point. Very glad I have some more in storage to try in a few years. Inky dark, excellent dark fruit with some great olive / earth / pepper notes, great mouth feel, nice long finish, all comes together very well. Delicious. — 5 hours ago
Nose has oak-ey pineapple purée, orange peel, oxidized green apple, dried white florals, orange blossom, wet river rocks and dry sandstone (go figure!).
Palate has warmed lemon slice, lemon zest, orange zest, very mineral-ey water, day old buttered popcorn, lemon pith, toasted barrel and warmed sandstone. Very nice, long finish, wanting another sip...
Decanted 3H, more time, and years appreciated. Future bottles should be 2025+.
Inaugural bottle from an OWC 6-pack my lovely wife surprised me with about a month ago, guess she really knows what I love, aside from her and the fur-kids, it's Chardonnay! — 14 days ago
Opens like a Savennières, three hours later it’s creamier and rounder like a lemon Meringue pie. Ripe apricot, honey, beeswax, chive, acacia, lemon, cream Fraiche, lemon pie, stony minerality, richly textured on the palate with the right amount of phenolics and an ultra long and pleasing finish. Such a lovely wine!! Elevated acidity. Medium gold in color. — 4 days ago
Mike & Rhonda came up to visit us this past Saturday. Came to support my son on his final swim before heading off to college. He just happened to break the pool record in 50 Breaststroke . They purchased this beauty for dinner. We LOVE you both! -at EddieV’s Tyson’s Corner. @Mike R — 7 days ago
Blend of 54% Cab Sauv, 34% Merlot & 12% Cab Franc. Deep Ruby with aromas of pronounced dark fruits, sweet spice, floral and herb notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry, blueberry and plum with notes of cacao, cedar and subtle herb spice. Well balanced with acidity, fine tannins, long finish ending with fruit, cedar and earthy mineral character. Nice! — 11 days ago
Wine has a beautiful medium dark ruby red gaining some brick hue on the border. Has always been taut and muscular and somewhat variable. This bottle oozed with great fruit, spices and flowers, and was truly excellent. Tanins are pronounced but there is enough fruit here to outlast them. Was a great bottle and we thoroughly enjoyed it. — 15 days ago
Scarlet tawny with mostly clear rims. Barely translucent in the center. Impactful and exciting nose. Notes of black cherries, blueberries, cracked walnuts, cut Cuban cigar, some dry brush and a little camphor. Smooth in the mouth. The nose is so floral, which makes up for some fading fruit in the finish. I think this bottle was slightly past its peak given the drying fruit posture, but the nose and scents make up for it. — 13 days ago
